REALPRODUCER PLUS FEATURES WHY REALPRODUCER PLUS? RealProducer Plus creates great quality content efficiently and effectively for live and ondemand distribution and will convert the most common audio and video files (see Specifications for details) into RealAudio and RealVideo formats. RealProducer Plus is the one piece of streaming media-creation software you need to own. The features and capabilities are numerous so we organized them into three key areas: Quality & Performance Efficient and Flexible Production Robust and Reliable Fault Tolerance QUALITY & PERFORMANCE (New) RealVideo 10 RealVideo 10 delivers unparalleled quality, even at low bit rates — Learn more about this powerful technology and how you can begin creating RealVideo 10 content today. (New) RealAudio 10 RealAudio 10 is the latest release of Real’s pioneering RealAudio technology. At 128kb/s and above, RealAudio 10 uses AAC technology to deliver outstanding clarity and frequency response. (New) RealVideo 10 Encoding Complexity Modes RealProducer 10 features new ‘encoding complexity modes’ for RealVideo that let you easily balance encoding time and image quality. Lower-complexity modes are the quickest route to industry-leading RealVideo, while the new high-complexity mode offers previously unobtainable levels of RealVideo quality. (New) Dynamic Encoding Complexity Control Creating video is a processor-intensive task, no matter what the format. RealProducer 10 can automatically and dynamically adjust the encoding complexity mode during a real-time encoding session to ensure that the computer’s processors are used most efficiently. (New) Performance Optimizations RealProducer 10 takes advantage of MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3 and other processor-specific optimizations, and includes support for multiple processors and Hyperthreading. Superior Pre-Processing Support De-interlace Filter — Removes "artifacts" that can be introduced when encoding NTSC or PAL formatted video for broadband RealVideo. Inverse Telecine Filter — Removes extra frames added when content has been converted from film to digital video. An option can be set to automatically detect and apply the de-interlace and inverse telecine filters Black Level Correction Filter — Adjusts the contrast of the input to make blacks appear darker and whites appear lighter. If the source video has a washed out appearance, this filter can help restore proper saturation. Noise Reduction Filter — Removes distortions or static in video images, common to consumer-grade video recording equipment and older film material. The Low setting reduces mild noise levels; the High setting fixes badly distorted video Improved Variable Bitrate (VBR) Encoding — Allows encoded video content to maintain a consistent level of video quality, either by optimizing for quality or a target average bitrate. VBR content may be distributed via live broadcast or on-demand by Helix Server Two-Pass Encoding — Analyzes video content in first pass to determine how best to vary the playback bitrate — most effective with VBR encoding. Audio VU and Clipping Meter — Calibrated meter in dB units shows left and right channels for input and output, indicating instantaneous peak, highest peak levels reached (peak holds), and clipped audio. Audio Gain Control — Audio pre-processing filter adjusts captured input signals to prevent clipping or adjusts static sources if audio is too soft. Improved Audio Re-Sampling — Supports a wide variety of sampling rates including fullresolution, full-spectrum 24-bit, 96KHz audio input. EFFICIENT AND FLEXIBLE PRODUCTION Batch Processing — Automatically and sequentially encode multiple jobs within RealProducer, or write script to automate the RealProducer command line application. Audience and Server Templates — Create and save customer parameters such as audio/video codec settings, bitrates, server IP addresses, broadcast methods, and more which can be re-used and shared across multiple encoding sessions or with colleagues. Job Files —Create and save all necessary encoding settings, including input settings, target audiences, pre-filters, metadata, and server/file destinations destinations for reuse later or for standardizing settings among encoding stations. Configurable SureStream™ Encoding — Precisely define the number of bitrate streams and encoding settings for each target audience within a multi-rate, SureStream file. SureStream encoding, a unique RealNetworks feature, allows Helix Server to dynamically adjust to the appropriate bitrate stream for each unique user, adjusting dynamically based on network conditions. If the network path becomes congested, a lower bitrate will be streamed. Once congestion is relieved, a higher bitrate stream will be served. Firewire (IEEE 1394) live capture support — Capture and encode live directly from your DV camcorder into RrealProducer. File to Server Live Broadcast — Now you can deliver, rehearsed, pre-recorded presentations to everyone, at the same time, when the time is right. With additional flexibility on the encoding side, this feature compliments the Simulated Live Transfer Agent (SLTA) capability of the Helix Server. Backwards Compatibility — Reach the largest possible audience with your content. RealProducer Plus allows you to select particular codecs for older RealOne Players and mobile devices with RealOne Player. RealProducer Plus 10 CD-ROM — RealProducer Plus 10 is downloadable at the point of purchase, and is also available on CD-ROM. The included electronic guide helps you get started, and is packed with tips on authoring and optimizing streaming media content. ROBUST AND RELIABLE FAULT TOLERANCE Advanced Broadcasting Functionality — new broadcasting options include 'Multicast', which conserves bandwidth and increases redundancy and scalability by sending a single broadcast to multiple servers at once. 'Pull Broadcasting' lets Helix Server start a broadcast from RealProducer when RealPlayer users have requested the broadcast stream. 'Server Reconnect' automatically reconnects the broadcasting RealProducer and receiving Helix Server in the event if the connection is lost. Multiple Destination Support — Send the same encoded file to multiple file locations and/or broadcast servers to increase system redundancy and reliability. Logging Support — Choose to record and display informational, diagnostic, warning and error messages for each encoding session to help troubleshoot your encoding jobs and broadcasts. View logs real-time with the Log Viewer or review each saved Log File after each encoding session is finished. Forward Error Correction — RealProducer resends additional packets at preset intervals to ensure against dropped packets along lossy 'loss-prone' networks. Loss Protection — Sends additional information in each packet to enable RealPlayers to reconstruct missing frames in the event of packet loss.
