Senior Pro-Am Allocation Packet

2015 Western Washington Chapter PGA
“Drive the Game Forward”
Greetings and Happy New Year!!
If you are like me, the holiday season allows us a chance glance in the rear view mirror at the
year that was, and usually with the high-beams on, the curving road ahead. Since this year’s
PGA National theme is “Drive the Game Forward” it is an honor for me to peer down ole State
Route 2015 (the WWC–PGA highway) steering the wheel of your Board of Directors and
Chapter staff. This outstanding collection of golf professionals has been busy planning several
new opportunities for YOU to Play, Teach, and Promote the game including:
The “Nike Nine” – A Fed-Ex Cup-style Pro-Member tournament series with a year-end
championship cash pot for qualifiers. Make your goal this year to play in these and other events.
There are 42 regular and 15 senior Pro-Member events this year! I know members of our golf
facilities enjoy playing with you and it is such a good way to enhance your relationship with
your members/bosses. You can wear shorts in the pro-member events this year! Also new this
year is a 3:00 pm deadline to pre-register your team on the day prior to the event. Please read
carefully the details of all the new events and regulations in your allocation packet.
The return of a two-day Spring Swing Pro-Member event at The Cedars of Dungeness in late
March. Hard to beat an overnighter in dry Sequim for this one!
A WWC-PGA “Adult and Youth Player Development” booth at the Seattle Golf Show in late
February at the CenturyLink Event Center. In addition to this event, your Player Development
Committees are energetically planning one of the biggest golfer outreach programs we’ve ever
seen. Contact Sara Griffin, Jon Larson or Chris Griffin to get involved and help out!
Our Chapter mission is to provide its members and apprentices with the programs, activities, and
services necessary to enable each individual to achieve professional excellence and to be valuable
members of our respective communities. To achieve this mission, our Board goals are to:






Operate in a fiscally responsible manner
Solicit each professional’s input, involvement, and participation
Communicate regularly with our professionals
Provide education and professional training opportunities
Devote energy and resources to Growth of the Game initiatives
Offer an extensive schedule of competitive events
It is a pleasure to be your Chapter President this year! Please try to make it to Glendale CC on
Thursday, February 12th for the Spring Chapter Meeting. If you have any questions or would like
to become a part of your leadership committee, please do not hesitate to contact me directly.
See you out on the highway!
Sincerely,
Dan Harrington, PGA
President, Western Washington Chapter – PGA

2015 WWC PGA SENIOR PRO-AMATEUR GUIDELINES
1.
ELIGIBILITY: : Members: All active life members and active regular members AT LEAST 45 YEARS OLD are eligible. Current
employment is not an eligibility requirement for members. Since active members who have left their jobs are still eligible to participate,
they will also be subject to fines for late cancellation or no-shows. Members who become suspended or go inactive will lose their
remaining spots. Their prior course may request to keep those spots for their other professionals. Apprentices: Registered Apprentices
are eligible to play as long as they are currently employed or transferring to a new employer. Pro-Member spots for Apprentices who
become suspended may be used by other professionals at their course. Apprentices who leave eligible employment will lose their
remaining spots until they resume eligible employment. Their prior course may request to keep those spots for their other professionals.
Amateurs: Amateurs must be 50 YEARS OF AGE or older. If you are short amateur players, always check with the host professional
for players first.
2.
TRANSFERS: Pro-member tee times may always be exchanged among IN-HOUSE GOLF PROFESSIONALS. If a professional
(Member or Apprentice) leaves a job for another in the Chapter, his tee times go with him. If a professional needs to cancel after the
cancellation deadline and the event is not full, or is full with no one on the wait list, he may avoid the late cancellation fine by finding
another senior professional to take his spot, as long as that professional does not already have a spot in the field.
3.
DRESS CODE: Professionals and amateurs must abide by the dress code in effect at the host course. In addition, under no
circumstances may professionals (male or female) wear JEANS of any style or color at any venue. Tailored golf shorts (including skirts
or skorts for females) may be worn by professionals and amateurs alike. Specifically prohibited : cut-offs, cargo shorts or any baggy
shorts with or without oversized pockets, short shorts, athletic shorts, and any type of exercise shorts. REMEMBER: Most country clubs
and some public golf courses do not allow shirts without collars. Softspikes are nearly always required by the host Club. Persons not
meeting this dress code will not be allowed to participate. It is the professional’s responsibility to insure that his/her amateurs are advised
of the dress code
3.
REGISTRATION & SCORING: Each golf professional is responsible for the accuracy of his team's handicaps. Two official scorecards
will be printed on-site for all teams. Both scorecards are to be filled out completely, checked to make sure they match, and each signed
by two players of the foursome. To speed up the registration process, professionals are encouraged to fax or email (via the web site) their
team entry form to the executive director by 3 pm of the last day prior to the event.
4.
CANCELLATIONS: Cancellations may be made at any time prior to the "Cancellation Deadline" date by calling the Chapter office @
800-341-7232. There is no fine for cancellations made prior to 5:00 PM on the "Cancellation Deadline" date. Cancellations after the
"Deadline Date" will be subject to a $50 fine if the event is not full and the spot is not filled by another team. Spots will be filled on a "first
cancelled/first filled" basis no matter what the tee times are. All cancellation calls will be made to the Chapter office through the last day
before the event. Cancellations on the day of the event shall be made to the host course. Cancellations on the day of the event and
"no-shows" shall be fined the full team entry fee.
5.
CALL-IN DATE: Professionals may call in to the Chapter office for a tee time at any time.
6.
HANDICAP POLICY: In general, amateurs must have an active USGA Ghin or E-Z Links handicap to play in WWC events. The club
hosting such a handicap group must either be located at a golf course or conduct events for its members to play in at golf courses. Online handicaps with virtual golf clubs will not be valid. A few exceptions are as follows:
1.) Any amateur may play in an event to a zero handicap.
2.) An amateur may play in an event if he/she has an inactive handicap that can be substantiated. This provision will allow the amateur
to play one time, and he or she will be directed to get the handicap activated before playing in another event. The executive director
may extend this provision based on his or her assessment of the situation.
3.) Guests invited as part of a sponsor team may play without a handicap and a conservative estimated handicap will be assigned by the
executive director. The executive director has the right to assign a temporary handicap under special circumstances.
The maximum handicap index allowed is 25.0 for all players (men and women) in senior pro-am events Amateurs with higher indexes
may participate, but will be limited to the maximum allowable index. There is no professional limit for senior pro-ams. All players play to
90% of their handicap for the team game; 100% for the individual games, including kp’s and long drives. Players over 60 may chose to
move up a tee at most events. Their handicap will be reduced according to rule 3-5. They will be ineligible to win gross prizes and long
drives in their divisions.
7.
1.
2.
3.
4.
PACE OF PLAY: All teams are subject to the WWC “Pace of Play” policy, including penalty stokes for all team members if the team
does not finish and post its scorecard within the “Maximum Time to Play”. See “Pace of Play Guidelines”.
FINES
rd
Cancellations prior to 5:00 PM on the "Cancellation Deadline" (Thursday of the 3 week prior to the event) are not subject to fine.
Cancellations after the "Cancellation Deadline" date will be fined $50 unless the event is full and the spot is filled.
Cancellations on day of the event or a NO SHOW will result in a fine equal to the team entry fee.
FAILURE TO TURN IN A CARD WITHIN 30 MINUTES AFTER COMPLETION OF PLAY WILL RESULT IN A $25.00 FINE. This requires
you come directly off the course at the end of a shotgun event. If you do not turn in a card at all, it will cost you $25.00 EVEN if the
card is a NON-WINNING scorecard.
Any of the fines above may be appealed in writing to the WWC Board of Directors within 10 days of receipt of a fine letter. In the instance of a
work related appeal, a letter from the employer is strongly recommended. The fine payment must accompany the appeal and will be held until
the appeal is heard.
2015 WWC PGA
Senior Pro-Am Allocation Guidelines
On February 1st, we will assign all Senior Pro-Am requests on a first-come, first-served basis. There will
be no other priorities established like in the regular pro-members. We will go through the stack and grant
each pro their top four picks, then do it all over again and again until everybody gets all their picks or all
the events fill. We will put pros on the waiting list for each event as well.
Professionals may wear shorts to these events. The shorts must be tailored golf shorts – cargo shorts,
athletic shorts, and cut-offs, etc. are prohibited.
Fill out the enclosed Allocation Sheet by prioritizing the events you would like to play and whether or not
you would like to reserve power carts and return it to the office by February 1, 2015. You will not be
assigned Pro-Am times unless your chapter dues are paid. The sooner your sheet is received at the
chapter office the higher priority you will have.
Eligibility
Professionals must be 45 to play in all events except 50 for the Senior Match Play Championship.
Professionals must be Active or Life Members or eligibly employed apprentices. Class F, suspended or
inactive members are not eligible. Amateurs must be age 50.
Handicap Limits
Professionals and amateurs will be limited to an index of 25.0. 90% of the course handicap will be used
for the team game. Players over 60 may elect to a forward tees at most events. Their handicap will be
reduced according to rule 3-5. Players using the forward tee are not eligible to win low gross in their
division nor the long drive competition.
Fines
The cancellation deadline for senior pro-ams is the Thursday of the 3rd week prior to the event. This
matches the same deadline procedure as for the regular pro-member events. If you cancel after the
deadline you will be fined $50. If you cancel or no-show on the day of the event you will be fined the
entire team entry ($220 in most cases). Cancellation deadlines are on the reverse side.
Entry Fees
The basic entry fee will remain at $55 per player, both professionals and amateurs. There will be a
mandatory $10 gross skins game for professionals at each event. The entry fee at Hawks Prairie will be
$365 including the $135 match play entry and the $230 pro-am team entry, sales taxes included.
Carts
Carts should all be reserved in advance by marking the column on the allocation form. Note that if you
request carts you will be liable for the cart fees even if you don't use them. If you do not request carts
you may not be able to get them on the day of the event.
