Int. Dog-Sleigh Worldchampionship
Scharnitz: 19th - 22nd February 2015
An exiting event for eyeryone! Scharnitz is the venue, as in the years
before, for the different categories of dog-sleigh racing. From
skijoring (a competitor is dragged on skis behind the team of dogs)
to the Pulka categories (the dogs pull on a sled which is connected
via a line to a skier) and many more categories, the racing will guarantee exciting competition and
raise the pulse of every animal and sports lover. There is a spectacular night race planned for
Thursday, February 20th . Around 100 teams from Austria, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy,
Switzerland, Slovenia and the Czech Republic have already registered and are looking forward to
an exciting event with great snow.

The Leutasch International Ganghofer Trail can justifiably be
described as one of the most testing cross-country runs in its class,
and is a highlight of the event calendar for many enthusiastic
recreational runners.

Winter walking tour
Scharnitz - Mühlberg trail (No. 30)
Take a left on the first street, a dirt road, after the church. Pass the
monastery on your left and then stop before carefully crossing the
Karwendelbahn, then take an imme-diate left onto Bahndamm
(Langackerweg) and follow it to Mühlberg car park (formerly a
funicular). Take the ski route to the forest trail, then follow it through
the forest. After reaching the ski slope, go up to your left to follow the
forest edge up to the Rodelweg, then take a right on the runway up
to the former Sportalm Muel mountain lift (unfortunately, it is closed,
but it offers beautiful views of Scharnitz). Duration: 90 min. approx. 9
km. Degree of difficulty: medium difficult

Starting point - Salzbach car park, distance: approx. 2 km; elevation
difference: 377 m; level of difficulty: easy to moderate; mountain hut
