MEMORANDUM TO: FROM: RE: VIM Team Applicants Bill Reed, Coordinator (908) 782-0464 H or (908) 209-2670 C Applications and ground rules Etc. for VIM-2014 Before submitting your application, you should print and carefully read the VIM-2014 Briefing Document. It contains new information every year! If you plan to apply, remember that your application should be in the Flemington Presbyterian Church office at 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822, on or before May 12. Timely return of all applications is important. The number of volunteers able to go on the trip is limited by: 1) Available facilities in Maine, 2) Mission-at-the-Eastward rules, and 3) Our own FPC Outreach Committee. Applications returned by May 12th are not guaranteed participation but will have some priority. Prompt return of applications also is of critical importance to our planning for the trip. Please review all of the following documents: A. The 2014 VIM Briefing document (which provides trip information and details needed for personal planning.) B. Application forms: adult (18 & over) and/or youth (under 18). NOTE: ALL MINORS GOING TO MAINE WITHOUT A PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN MUST HAVE THE MEDICAL RELEASE SECTION OF THE APPLICATION NOTARIZED. After reviewing the documents and resolving questions (my home Tel.number is 908-782-0464): 1) Complete each section of the application, print your name at the top of each page, and sign each place where that is requested. 1) If you are under 18, your parent/guardian must sign the form in each place required and YOU must sign after the Covenant. (A parent/guardian NOTARIZED signature is needed on Pg 3). (Cindy Hall, our office manager, at 10 East Main St., is a NOTARY. The number is: (908) 782-3227) 2) Return the application with the required Team Fee, and optional picture & T-shirt fees to 10 East Main St. (Checks should be made payable to: “FPC-VIM”) (Team member fees have not changed for 2014, and are refundable if you don’t go. T-shirt fees are not refundable since shirts are purchased in advance.) All fees are due with applications. Each team applicant must fill out a separate form. If you have any questions at all, please call Bill Reed (See Tel's at top of page). Return application forms by May 12th.. (Hint: If you’re not yet sure of your summer plans, it is better to submit an application timely than to later hope for an opening to develop.) There are long-established selection criteria for VIM, and we often have a waiting list. Within 2 - 3 weeks after May 12th you will receive a call regarding your status. Once told you have a place on the team, no one else can take your place. If your plans change though, please notify us right away because someone on the waiting list is hoping to hear. Watch the Parish Paper, e-mails, Sunday Bulletins, and the FPC website for announcements.
