Official Newsletter of the Bearded Collie Club of America Bea May 2014 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE Rosie Schroeder WELCOME THREE NEW BOARD MEMBERS OBEDIENCE MEDALLIONS We did not receive any additional nominations for the board, so the four members nominated by the nominating committee are declared elected. Our new officers and board members are Class of 2015 Kirsten Andreassend Pat Colombo Robert Lamm As I mentioned last month, two new awards have been established. These medallions, pictured below, will be given to the top scoring bearded collie completing a regular obedience title (CD, CDX and UD) during the preceding year and also the top scoring bearded collie completing a regular rally title (RN, RA, RE) during the preceding year. As you can see these are going to be very special. In order to raise the funds to pay for nine years of medallions (there is a sizeable price break for this quantity), the obedience committee needs donations from anyone interested in supporting this worthwhile venue. If you would like to contribute, please contact Class of 2016 Billy Carter Nicole Conner Debby Furlow Laurie Lo, Obedience Chair 588 E. Highway EE Winfield, MO 63389 636-688-6940 [email protected] I would like to thank Joanne Williamson and Carol Sirrine, who will be leaving the board this year, for their years of dedication to the BCCA. Although they will no longer be on the board, I am sure they will maintain the same level of commitment and will be ready to help in any way needed. The BCCA needs dedicated people such as these ladies and gentlemen who have and will be serving on the board and many others who serve in other ways. Without this type of leadership there would be no club to watch over our beloved beardies. If you have never served on a committee or acted in some type of role for the BCCA, I encourage you to do so. The club needs your support! BCCA DUES RENEWAL Michele Ritter – President Maryann Szalka - Vice President Nicole Connor - Board Member Debby Furlow - Board Member I think the new board will be very successful, and I look forward to working with them as past president. Continuing on the board are Linda Taylor - Recording Secretary Don Means – Treasurer Elizabeth Hayes - Corresponding Secretary Rosie Schroeder - Past President At the risk of sounding as if I'm nagging, I am reminding you again! Look for your dues renewal that will be sent via the club’s Mail Chimp account by June 1st. Those who are mailed a hard copy of the Bagpipes will receive it with the May Bagpipes. Remember we have some new rules this year, so don't be caught unawares. Dues are due by July 1st. If not received by then, a penalty of $5 will be assessed. If still unpaid after August 31, your membership is terminated; if you wish to be a BCCA member, you will have to go through the application process again. There are no exceptions. The mission of the Bearded Collie Club of America is to protect the long-term welfare of the breed by providing a variety of opportunities for Beardie owners, breeders, and the general public to learn, connect, and compete, while supporting research into breed-specific health issues and rescuing Beardies in need.
