Analyzed data from the Fragile Families and Child Wellbeing Study—a longitudinal,
nationally-representative sample of urban births that occurred between 1998 and 2000 in 20
large U.S. cities—to investigate parenting practices and children’s outcomes across diverse
family forms.
Synthesized large amounts of previous literature to develop new research questions and
solve analytic problems.
Employed innovative statistical models to address research questions, such as factor
analysis, latent growth curve models, latent class models, and quasi-experimental methods.

Prepared graphical and tabular representations of research findings for diverse audiences of
academic researchers, family practitioners, and social workers.
Sole- or lead-author for multiple peer-reviewed manuscripts, including two published in
leading journals, two under review, and two in progress.
Presented papers at national conferences, such as the Association for Public Policy Analysis
and Management, the Population Association of America, the American Sociological
Association, and the Society for Research on Child Development.

Assisted with the 2011 wave of data collection for the Wisconsin Longitudinal Study
(WLS), a longitudinal survey of the Wisconsin high school class of 1957 and their siblings,
parents, and spouses.
Developed and tested items related to physical health for inclusion in the survey.
Served as a practice interviewer during the pilot interview phase.
Analyzed data from earlier waves of the WLS to investigate the impact of work and family
trajectories on individuals’ financial wellbeing at older ages.
Presented research findings at a seminar on latent class analysis at the Center for
Demography and Ecology.

Administered and analyzed survey data from over 80 undergraduate students about the
relationship between self-esteem and life satisfaction.
Designed, administered, and analyzed survey data from over 40 undergraduate students for
my honors thesis, which investigated how students’ personalities moderate their emotional
responses to their academic performance.
