The promotions represent the evolution of WDG as we look to the future. Steve Schwartzman, AIA, LEED AP, joined WDG in 1999 and serves as a project manager. His project experience ranges from the U.S. Army Test and Evaluation Command Headquarters to 8300 Wisconsin Avenue, the latest mixed use apartment building in Bethesda now under construction. He currently is working on the new National Science Foundation headquarters in Alexandria, VA. Buddy Woerner, AIA, joined WDG in 1998 and manages some of the firm’s most complex projects including office, multi-family, mixed-use, hospitality, and student housing. Woerner has been instrumental in significant commissions with Federal Realty Investment Trust at Rockville Town Square and currently at Pike & Rose. His recent urban revitalization experience includes working in Washington, D.C. with Camden Property Trust in NoMA and Toll Brothers at the Capitol Riverfront, and in Bethesda with The Donohoe Companies. Doug James, AIA started with WDG as an intern while studying at Catholic University and joined WDG in 1995. He serves as a project manager for projects ranging from residential to federal government headquarters, and from hospitality to student housing. He currently is working with the Shooshan Company on apartments in Clarendon and with The George Washington University to rehab a hotel into graduate and faculty housing. >> (page 2) WDG Promoted Leadership 2014 Sungjin Cho, AIA, has been promoted to senior associate. Cho joined WDG in 2010 and serves as a senior designer. He led the designs for significant master plans in Tysons, VA such as Arbor Row for Cityline and Taylor Plaza at Scotts Run Station South. His designs while at WDG can be seen at the Aurora at North Bethesda Center and V Street Residences under construction in Washington, DC. He is currently leading the Red Top Cab residential development in Clarendon for Shooshan Company. Carl Skooglund, AIA, CDT, has been promoted to senior associate. Skooglund joined WDG in 2005 and serves as a project architect and construction administration advisor. His experience with WDG ranges from the U.S. Coast Guard Headquarters to now working with Toll Brothers on apartments at the Ballpark, both in Washington, DC. Boyd Chapman, AIA, has been promoted to associate. Chapman joined WDG in 2012 and service as a construction administrator. He recently completed The Ascent at Spring Hill Station, Tysons, VA and is now working on the Howard Hughes Medical Institute Janelia Research Campus for the second phase housing and The Flats at 8300 Wisconsin Avenue. He was part of the team for the AIA awarded-wining Imminent Bloom design concept. Esther Ryskamp, AIA, LEED AP, has been promoted to associate. Ryskamp joined WDG in 2011 and serves as a project architect. While at WDG, she worked on the Varsity at Ann Arbor student housing in Michigan and at Arbor Row in Tysons, VA for Cityline. She is now working with Forest City at The Yards on the Arris apartment building.
