Intended Use
The standardised UFT food fish breeding modules grant at a smooth, user-friendly and
successful production of food fish a little but adequate technology. Standard modules are
designed according to the proven UFT recirculation technology operating in compliance with
the basic UFT philosophy: ensuring the optimal environment for fishes WITHOUT adding
antibiotics, growth accelerating or colour enhancing products or any other pharmaceutics.
Especially due to the standardisation of these so-called modules, investment costs as well as
operating costs can be kept to a minimum. This principle allows for a very low-cost yet not
"cheap" solution for interested customers.
Mostly in the countryside and/or in the agricultural sector, alternative and regenerative
forms of energy are available. Using these forms of energy in combination with aquaculture
reduces operating costs (power and thermal energy) thus increasing profit. The economic
efficiency of such aquacultures is mainly determined by the sales price of the end products.
Only 1-2 employees are needed for one UFT module.
In this context it is worth mentioning that the discharged water of the fish farm is an ideal
fertilizer which is very rich in nitrate and phosphate thus offering the alternative to use it for
cost-saving agricultural purposes.
The flexibility of the UFT modules is another advantage worth emphasising: If required, new
and existing modules can be extended at any time by additional modules to form an
(industrial) large-scale project.
Module description
The design of the aquaculture system, the number and the design dimensions of each highquality system component are perfectly adjusted to the requirements of each fish species
and the fish biomass to be produced. Thus, optimal conditions of growth can be achieved by
ensuring water quality and other parameters.
The low-head design and the intelligent combination of system components allow for the
operation of aquaculture systems with significantly lower energy consumption compared to
similar systems of the same capacity.

Illustration: Top view sample of a UFT Medi Grow Module
One module comprises a cluster of tanks as well all systems for cleaning, water treatment
and operation required for the production of food fish (see above illustration).
The following fish species can be produced in general in UFT-Modules of several sizes. There
it is recommended to focus on the differentiation of fresh and salt water fish species. UFT
strongly recommends to produce salt water species close to a coast line only.

The requested species defines the kind and group of the UFT-Module. In the following step
the requested annual output of biomass needs to be selected, here the general
differentiation needs to be considered:
1. UFT-MiniGrow Module (so called Mini-Module)
2. UFT-MediGrow Module (so called Medi-Module)
3. UFT-MaxiGrow Module (so called Maxi-Module)
The possible production output (approximate figures) for each and every group of species
and for every module size can be taken of the following sheet.
