but not out of sight.
Welcome.
Social and environmental leadership is ever
evolving and here at Südwolle Group we
see this both as an opportunity and as a
challenge. New technologies are rapidly
leading to new ways of thinking. In turn
this is shifting mind sets and creating new
possibilities for a bright future.

It always seems
impossible until
it’s done.

We know that even though there are
challenges we can’t overcome today, they
will be met. The important thing is to always
keep the right attitude. We will embrace the
changes in textiles and find ways to reach
the standards we know are necessary, but
seem out of reach today.
HiGG index
In August 2012, the Sustainable Apparel
Coalition launched a tool, the Higg Index,
to help brands account for their products‘
environmental impacts. The Higg Index
draws data and product information from a
range of sources, including the Nike Material
Sustainability Index (MSI). The wool related
data within the Index is currently inaccurate
and out of date. Südwolle Group, in partner

ship with ZQ Merino, retail brand partners and
the International Wool Textile Industry are un
dertaking in a large scale project to establish a
new, accurate dataset that can be incorporated
into the Higg Index. This will improve the tool
and enable brands to make sustainable, ecolo
gically sound decisions about their production
and manufacturing systems. For more infor

Welcome to our latest ECOBALANCE. We
continue our strong focus on sustainabilility
– which for us covers economic, environ
mental, and social aspects. We have com
pleted a number of different projects and
we have a number of exciting new oppor
tunities underway for the future – including
participation in a new supply chain life
cycle analysis. After feedback from our last
publication we have reduced the amount
of text, and added some symbols to make
navigation easier. We hope you find this
edition useful – and as always we are
happy to receive your feedback at yarns@

We follow fashion.
One step ahead.
In fashion, demands are ever changing, change cycles are quick,
and every day can produce the demand for a new material.
In order to meet these challenges we are constantly varying and
perfecting our yarns. In our cooperation with the customers we
develop yarns and colors tailored to their needs and requirements.
We support fashion designers and textile companies by developing
innovative, high quality products for the future like non-chlorine
treated yarns or yarns with less hairiness and better pilling results.
