First YYN COE Meeting for 2014
The Yorta Yorta Council of Elders (COE) held their first meeting at
Yenbena Training Centre Barmah. Aunty Jan Muir, Roxanne Atkinson & Kellie Jones organised the Elders to come together to meet at
Yenbena and elect their new spokes person for the COE and also
elect their two new board of director representatives (BOD). The
new COE spoke person elect is Uncle Leon Atkinson & the two
new BOD are Uncle George McGee and Uncle Leon Atkinson. The
COE, Yenbena staff and YYN staff wish them well. (photo top left


The day started with a welcome to country and smoking ceremony
performed by Uncle Colin Walker which also gave the COE, Yenbena Staff the opportunity to officially welcome the new scar tree to
Yenbena. Yenbena was also smoked for the start of the new 2014
training year. Uncle Colin smoked all the COE members and YYN

The day was jammed packed with the COE updated of the YYN
strategic plan, overview of the YYN rule book, update and overview
of the YYN Policy & procedures guidelines, decision making frame
work, whole of country plan framework, update on partnership,
MOU’s & all YYN projects, they also work shop the set up of COE
reporting templates, new agenda items and a three year calendar
meeting schedule. The COE worked extremely hard to set them
selves up from now and into the future.

The YYN family groups have also been meeting updating their information and memberships, elect their Elder representatives & providing the valuable information & feed back to YYN for its continued
