Portraits of World Mysticism: Learning from Christians, Jews, Buddhists, Sufis, and Hindus Lecture Series TYMEN HALL Please note change of venue. To avoid the stairs, go to the library and come up in the elevator! - OBLATE SCHOOL OF THEOLOGY Zen Colin Gipson Saturday, Nov. 1, 2014 9AM – noon In October of 2003, San Antonio Zen arose out of a wish to share the Dharma and sitting practice in the Soto traditions of Shunryu Suzuki. This wish was realized with the guidance and example of the teachers and students of the Austin Zen Center. We aspire to benefit all beings (including ourselves) in each moment, unconditionally, with awareness, energy, lovingkindness, compassion, joy and equanimity, relaxing with what is, to realize awakening. Colin Gipson is the Guiding Teacher of the San Antonio Zen Center. He was born in Austin and raised in central Texas. Colin served in the Marine Corps and eventually landed in Michigan, where he received a degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Michigan. Colin returned to Texas in 1999 and began practicing at the Austin Zen Center in 2000. He was ordained in 2003 and practiced at San Francisco Zen Center for several years. Colin is available for practice discussion and can be reached at www.sanantoniozen.org. This lecture is the third of a year-long series on mysticism. Registration: $40 per lecture.
