Chamber President, Dana Macalik described the Senator as a community-focused man of great character. The Senator shared fond memories of his time in office, including stories about his unforgettable experiences with colleague, Congressman Ralph Hall. Senator Deuell expressed his views on the issues that he feels will have the greatest impact on local businesses. Although he will miss his duties as an elected official, Senator Deuell looks forward to actively engaging himself as a member of our Rockwall community. Mayor David Sweet presented Senator Deuell with a U.S. Flag that was flown over Congress - a gift from Ralph Hall. Partner Spotlight The Rockwall Chamber Partner Spotlight: Heath Salon and Spa Jauna French, Owner/Hair Designer at Heath Salon and Spa, wrote: “When people ask me how I built a business from 950 sq. ft and two stylists to 4,700 sq. ft. and a team of 25, off the beaten path, in the bedroom community of Heath – I tell them, ‘I joined the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce.’ “I moved from Ponca City, Oklahoma where I had a very established eight year clientele to an area where I knew no one and no one knew me. I was an active member of the Chamber in Ponca City, so I went to the Rockwall Chamber to see what they had to offer per advice from my new banker, Larry Parks. I attended Business After Hours and a couple of lunch meetings, met some wonderful business owners and joined. I could say the rest is history as they have continued to grow as much as my company has with this wonderful community, but there is really more to the story. Heath Hair Co., Inc. (dba now as Heath Salon and Spa) has been a member since 1994, and we have met so many wonderful business owners, attended many great events, hosted a few Business After Hours events ourselves, and have learned what a great business partner that our Chamber of Commerce can be when we join and utilize all they have to offer. The Chamber is a resource that not only brings business to us, but also brings us together to grow our business together with many others in our community. Being a part of one of the fast growing counties in the U.S., it has never been more important to have an advocate at the State and National level. The Chamber is responsible for much of the recognition and business growth that has been achieved through a strong Chamber involvement at those levels. It is exciting to know that they are continually striving to put Rockwall/Heath on the map and in the forefront of growing our business community. I am busy running our company day-to-day and I need a Partner that is looking out for us. I am proud to say that the Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce is still an active part of our business. I know one thin for sure…what you put in to your membership, you get back tenfold – but you have to participate. You have to have someone from your business there, representing your business and taking advantage of all the opportunities available. So many contact opportunities are available at every level, so choose what you enjoy and make it work for you. Many contacts are just handed to you upon membership, but it is up to us an individual businesses to utilize them and when you do, success comes in a little closer. Being out in the Heath community is truly a blessing. We love servicing a large clientele that we continue to build by utilizing our Rockwall Area Chamber of Commerce. We are grateful for their efforts to keep our business’ interest and needs the reason for their being and for making it a fun experience to get to know and grow our community.” Education Opportunity Events Register Online at www.rockwallchamber.org/events LAST CHANCE! ... don’t miss the bus! The class visited the Rockwall County Historical Museum on East Washington Street and viewed so many neat artifacts from the past. Then we visited the Rockwall Wedding Chapel for a delicious lunch from the Yellow Rose Cafe after we sorted and bagged snack foods with the Kiwanis Club for the children that attend the Boys and Girls Club after school program. The remainder of our day was spent at Rockwall City Hall as we heard from Mayor Sweet, and many elected city officials and departments. I know I speak for all of us when I say that we now all have a better understanding how our City is ran and how it functions. It was great, informative day!
