Tateyama City ‒ a paradise of wild nature and historic spot satisfying all its residents and visitors.
千葉県の南端に位置する「館山市」は、四季折々に表情を変える豊かな自然や、昔ながらの生活
Tateyama City, located at the southern tip of Boso Peninsula and the town with a population of about 50 thousand.
Full of wild nature, it shows diﬀerent features from season to season and holds traditions of human culture handed
down from the old ages. The town is blessed with warm weather year round so it is commonly known as “Town
of Flower”. Poppies, Stock and Rape blossoms bloom even in the cold winter season, and the town’s full-blown
ﬂower ﬁelds announce the coming of spring. It is also a seaside town, having a long coastline extending 34.3 km.
It is also famous destination for sea bathing and marine sport such as surﬁng, snorkeling, and diving. And there
are more than 20 kinds of reef building coral and they can be seen underwater, and a beautiful undersea world
featuring some of the northernmost habitat of coral. 「Tateyama sunset pier」 and 「“Nagisa no eki” Tateyama」
had become the seaside symbol and now it is popular spots as a “Minato no Oasis”.
In addition, see the Mt.Fuji beyond the sea the beautiful scenery will fascinates every traveler. Tateyama is not only
a place of nature but also a historical spots. It was the stage for “Nanso Satomi Hakkenden”written by Bakin
Takizawa. And in the middle ages, Feudal Lord Satomi ruled this area, which is called Awanokuni. There are many
historical heritages and tradition related to Lord Satomi, and the romantic story of Hakkenden.
With a smooth access from major cities such as Tokyo, Yokohama and also from
Narita, Haneda airports and
Tokyo Disneyland resort.

文化が今も伝わる人口およそ5万人のまちです。
一年を通じて温暖な気候に恵まれ、冬の寒い時期でもポピーやストック、菜の花が咲き誇り、満
開の花畑が早春の訪れを告げる“花のまち”です。
また、34.3ｋｍにも及ぶ長い海岸線を持ち、ダイビングやサーフィンをはじめとしたマリンスポー
ツ、夏の海水浴、さらにはサンゴ生息の北限域ともいわれる美しい海中世界の広がる“海のま
ち”でもあります。海辺のシンボルとなっている「館山夕日桟橋」と「“渚の駅”たてやま」は、
“みなとのオアシス”として人気のスポットです。
また、富士山を海越しに望め、訪れた人を魅了する癒しの場所となっています。
都心や成田・羽田などの空港、東京ディズニーリゾートからもアクセスが良く、陸・海・空とそれ
ぞれのスタイルの旅が楽しめるまちです。
江戸時代の伝奇小説「南総里見八犬伝」の舞台としても有名で、今から約400年前の戦国時代
の武将・里見氏によって築かれた歴史のまちでもあります。
