confidence in findings from observational studies based on
healthcare databases and provides examples from the US and
Europe.

National healthcare databases provide unique opportunities to
better understand drug safety in regional populations. Regulatory
agencies have gained increasing confidence in such database
analyses to inform drug safety decisions. Key considerations are
comprehensive privacy regulations, using improved rapid-cycle
analytics, applying safeguards to avoid investigator errors and
reporting transparently all methodological choices.
