Basketball Camp
American Education Week

Tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 7
The University of Mary is hosting a camp for girls in grades
K - 6 tomorrow, Nov. 7 at the McDowell Activity Center
from 9 am - noon. The camp is designed to assist girls in
developing basketball skills needed to compete. Individual
skills and team development strategies will be taught by the
U-Mary men’s basketball team and coaching staff.
The cost includes a t-shirt and is $35 for 1 child; $30 for

Legacy Sabers are offering the Saber Stars Boys Basketball
Camp for grades K – 6 on Nov. 15, 22 and 29. The camp
is taught by the Sabers coaching staff and boys basketball
team. All Bismarck area boys are welcome to attend. Camp

com, under the “Saber Stars Camp” tab. The Legacy Saber
boys basketball team will be hosting its preview night on
Nov. 29 at 4 pm at Simle Middle School.

The following classes are being offered to all youth, no 4-H
membership required.
Macramé: Nov. 17, ages 8 and older from 6 - 7:30 pm; $8.
Videography: Dec. 1 and Jan. 12, ages 10 and older from
6 - 7:30 pm; FREE.
Photography: Feb. 21 and 28, ages 10 and older from 10 am
- noon; $10.
Sewing: March 20, ages 8 and older from 8 am - 5 pm; $35
with lunch included.
All classes will be taught at the Burleigh County Extension
Office, 3715 E. Bismarck Expressway.
BECEP/Head Start is enrolling children ages 3 - 4 for
Preschool. This is a “FREE” program. Eligibility is income
based and transportation is provided on a limited basis. Call

U-Mary Baseball “Black
Friday” Skills Camp
Don’t miss the Century Centahnas and other dance teams
from Bismarck, Mandan and the surrounding areas as
they showcase their dance routines before the competition
season begins. There will be concessions, a photo booth and
clothing attire for sale. The showcase will be Saturday, Nov.
22 at Century High School. Doors open at 10 am and the
show begins at 11:30 am. Cost is $6 for 6 years and older.
Ages 5 and under are FREE.
The goal of the camp is to provide skills & techniques needed by both boys and girls to improve their game. Campers
will learn drills that they can use on a regular basis. Parents
and coaches are invited to attend so they can practice the
fundamentals with their athlete.

Father-Daughter Ball at BHS!
Saturday, Nov. 22
The Bismarck High Drama Club will have a father-daughter
dance on Saturday, Nov. 22 at the BHS Knaak Center. The
“Fairytales and Forever Afters Ball” is for girls ages 2-12.
There will be photo ops with theater students dressed as
princesses starting at 6 pm and a grand march at 6:30 pm.
At that time everyone except the girls and their dads must
leave. There will be dancing, refreshments and crafts. The
cost is $30 per couple; each additional child with a father,
uncle, etc. is $10.
Tickets must be purchased before the event at the Bismarck
High office. Ticket sales run through Nov. 14. For more

Let’s Dance Studio
presents Frozen
Friday, Dec. 5
Let’s Dance Studio will present a special performance of
Disney’s Frozen for area schools. Through the art of dance,
performers will tell the story of Anna, Kristoff and Sven as
they venture off in a quest to find Anna’s sister, Elsa, and
to save Arendelle from never-ending winter. Let’s Dance
has hundreds of dancers from the Bismarck/Mandan area
performing a variety of dance styles including jazz, hip hop,
ballet, tap, lyrical and pointe.
Performances will be held at the Belle Mehus with three
show times offered: 9 am, 10:30 am, and 1 pm. The show
will last approximately one hour and an informational
presentation will outline performance etiquette and theatre
vocabulary and history.
Fellowship of
Christian Athletes
FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes) has Huddles (clubs)
in each Bismarck public high school and middle school.
Each Huddle meets at a time and location that works for
that school’s schedule. Contact the school office or click

The camp will take place in Leach Fieldhouse on Nov. 28
from 9 am - noon for grades K - 6. Grades 7 - 12 will be
from 1 - 4 pm. The cost is $50 per camper and includes a

Autism Connection:
The ND Autism Connection and the YMCA are proud to
offer activities and sports classes for children living with
disabilities and their siblings, friends, parents and/or caregivers. There will be special activities and kids will be split
into groups, based on the ages and the needs of participants.
They will meet the second Sunday of the month through
May, from 5 - 6 pm, at the Missouri Valley YMCA.
This is a FREE and structured event, so you must register

a member of the YMCA to participate!
Aquatics
There is a choice between 4 weeks of lessons, 2 days a
week or 6 weeks of lessons, 1 day a week. There are private

The Youth Development Center offers after school programming for grades K – 5 at 3 locations: YMCA, YDC
North (in Century Baptist) and YDC Divide (in First Baptist

Youth Sports:
Basketball: Passer and Shooter Leagues
Teams are made up of 3rd grade boys and girls, 4th grade
girls, and 5th/6th grade girls. Players will receive a jersey
and learn the basics of basketball. All teams will keep score.
There will be an end of the year jamboree for 3rd and 4th
graders while 5th and 6th graders will have an end of season tournament.
Practices are 1 hour/week Monday - Thursday at 4 or 7 pm.
Games will be Saturday mornings beginning in January.

Volleyball: 7th – 8th Grade Girls
This program is for girls who want to continue to improve
their volleyball skills after the school season. Separate
leagues will be held for each grade.
The league will be a roster sign-up league with a minimum
of 6 players accepted per roster. Payment is due at registration. Single players may sign-up for a preferred practice
time and will be placed on a team after registration.
Practices are 1 hour/week Monday - Thursday at 8:30 pm
or Sundays at 1 or 2 pm. Games will be held Fridays at 5:30
pm beginning Jan. 23.
