On behalf of the board of directors of INWES, I would like to
express my heartfelt welcome to all the participants of the 2016
INWES Regional Conference. I am so proud to be holding the INWES Regional Conference hosted by DIB (German Association of
Women Engineers) along with celebrating 30 years Anniversary.

I would like to thank the efforts of our host organization DIB,
Sylvia Kegel as Conference Chair and their members for hosing and

preparing this Regional Conference. I hope this Regional Conference

can be an active playground to meet and share the ideas and activities
among DIB and INWES members especially in Europe. We are grateful to
UNESCO for the patronage again this year.
The International Network of Women Engineers and Scientists (INWES) is an international network body serving as an NGO, as a partner of UNESCO. INWES was created with the vision “To
build a better future worldwide, through the full and effective participation of women and girls
in all aspects of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM.)”. INWES oversees
the International Conference for Women Engineers and Scientists (ICWES), which has been held
every three years in various parts of the world for supporting Women in Engineering and Science
since 1964. ICWES16 was held in 2014 in L.A., USA, ICWES17 will be in Dehli, India, 2017.
We anticipate active discussions on “Science. Knowledge. Power”. Also we setting up the third
INWES Regional Network during the conference, INWES Europe, prepared by the kick-off team of
INWES Europe from 2015. INWES has established the regional network to foster and promote its
activities in a physically close and similar time zone region, because they have common interests
as well as regional problems that can be solved together. INWES Europe is the third INWES regional network (the first is Asia Pacific Nations Network (APNN) and the second African Regional
Network (ARN).
For INWES spirit to build actions for a gender equal, sustainable, technological, inclusive society,
we need ‘close networking’. This is because we need the ‘collective wisdom’ to make our world a
more gender equal place and to promote our societies by extending our horizon to maximize the
diversity and openness. We can share our experiences, our passions, times, energies and ideas
and care for each other and learn from one another, which will empower us as Women Scientists
and Engineers.
I look forward to being inspired at the 2016 Regional Conference and hope that you will all have
a great and valuable time by opening your hearts and reaching your hands out for changing our
world better place. I wish you all enjoy Freising, Germany, the land of major religious centre in
the early Middle Ages.

CONFERENCE PROGRAM
Begeisterung wecken – Technik leben
Technik nimmt in unserem Leben einen immer größeren Stellenwert ein. In meinem Leben habe
ich mich früh für Technik begeistert: durch den Elektrohandwerksbetrieb meiner Eltern. Gemündet ist diese Begeisterung in eine Berufsausbildung und einen Job im Hubschrauberbau – vor
meinem Einstieg in die Berufspolitik. Es ist eine unumstößliche Wahrheit: Frauen können Technik.
Wir brauchen starke Stimmen, die in der Öffentlichkeit anerkennen und motivieren. Der deutsche
ingenieurinnenbund ist so eine starke Stimme, seit 30 Jahren. Sie wird noch besser wahrnehmbar, wenn sie im Chor auftritt. 200.000 Frauen aus 60 Ländern werden durch INWES repräsentiert, INWES Europe wird die Aufmerksamkeit auf unserem Kontinent gezielt
erhöhen. Ich wünsche mir einen Auftritt, der Begeisterung gerade bei
Mädchen und jungen Frauen weckt – der dazu ermutigt, sich in
Schule, Ausbildung und Studium den MINT-Fächern zu nähern.
Die beruflichen Aussichten sind bestens: Die Digitalisierung wird neue, interessante Jobprofile hervorbringen,
technisches Verständnis ist dafür Voraussetzung. Bayern hat
als Hochtechnologieregion, als topmoderner Wirtschaftsstandort auf Wachstumskurs weiter Bedarf. Wir brauchen
hochqualifizierte Frauen: mit guten Ideen, in neuen
Geschäftsmodellen, ausgezeichnet vernetzt.
An der Kompetenz liegt es nicht, es liegt an der Einstellung. Deshalb ist es an der Zeit, verkrustete Denkmuster
aufzubrechen und Frauen Wege in Führungspositionen zu
ebnen.
Ich wünsche Ihrer Tagung einen erkenntnisreichen Verlauf und
eine starke Signalwirkung!

Tina Müller: Chief Marketing Officer and Member of the
Management Board of Opel Group GmbH. She is responsible
for the automaker’s brand strategy and brand management
since August 2013. In 2010, Müller was named “European Chief
Marketing Officer of the Year” (Booz & Company). She has also
been named ”Marketing Manager of the Year” three times by
the marketing trade magazine “W & V”. In 2015, Tina Müller
has received the prestigious Brand Manager of the Year award
at the Automotive Brand Contest hosted by the German Design
Council. Additionally the General Association of Communication Agencies (GWA) has presented Opel with the “GWA Effie in
Gold” in the “Comeback” category for the “Umparken im Kopf”
(Change your Mind) campaign in 2015. Together with Opel CEO
Dr. Karl-Thomas Neumann she has also been honored with the
“Man and Woman of the Year 2015” Award of German Marketing trade magazine HORIZONT in the category Marketing.

1598) strikes us selfevident. It was the beginning of the
triumphal procession and progress of science and technology that changed the world until today. However,
today the power of people who really have knowledge
in this field is shifted to power games of individuals
who have pure economic interests. How can we take
the power of knowledge more seriously? How can we
take responsibility for a wise and reasonable formation
and creation of our world? The talk gives a brief sketch
of the historical backgrounds and future perspectives,
especially to women in science and engineering.

Warum wir einen Kodex in der
Technik brauchen: Mega-Konzerne
im Silicon Valley erobern mit Milliarden-Investitionen immer neue
Lebensbereiche und Forschungsgebiete. Auch Deutschland ist auf den Zug
der Digitalisierung aufgesprungen, der
mit Mach 3 und ungebremst in die
Zukunft rast. Der Mensch läuft Gefahr,
von seiner eigenen Technik überrollt
zu werden und sich selbst überflüssig
zu machen. Stehen sich in der Folge
die technologische Macht und ein
ethisches Menschenbild unvereinbar
gegenüber oder sollten wir genau
jetzt nicht lieber anfangen, beide
miteinander zu versöhnen? Auf diese
Fragen wird Melanie Vogel in ihrer

bis heute rasant verändert. Dennoch verlagert sich
heute mehr denn je die Macht von denen, die wirklich
das Wissen haben, hin zu Machtspielen Einzelner mit
rein wirtschaftlichen Interessen. Wie können wir die
Macht, die im Wissen liegt, ernst nehmen und Verantwortung für eine vernünftige Weltgestaltung übernehmen? Der Vortrag wird geschichtliche Hintergründe
und zukünftige Perspektiven skizzieren, vor allem für
Wissenschaftlerinnen und Ingenieurinnen.


Technik ist männlich und die Anwesenheit
von Ingenieurinnen ein Ergebnis verfehlter Frauenpolitik oder des Feminismus?
Doch wie hat sich der Ingenieurberuf zu

Wie wurde und wird Inklusion und Exklusion betrieben? Wohin wandelt sich die

Die interdisziplinäre Geschlechter- und
Heterogenitätsforschung beschäftigt
sich mit Machtverhältnissen in MINT
auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen. Sie
untersucht Menschen, das Image, die
Fachkultur und das vergeschlechtlichte
Wissen von MINT. An der Hochschule
Hannover existiert seit Kurzem das
Fachgebiet Gender MINT, an dem
diese und ähnliche Fragestellungen in
Bezug auf Maschinenbau und Physik

Wirtschaftshistorikerin, ist Maria-Goeppert-Mayer-Professorin für Gender in
Ingenieurwissenschaften und Informatik
an der Fakultät für Maschinenbau und
Bioverfahrenstechnik der Hochschule
Hannover. Sie verfügt über eine knapp
20jährige Lehrerfahrung im Bereich
Gender und MINT und unterrichtet
aktuell interdisziplinäre und physikalische
Grundlagenveranstaltungen in Elektrotechnik, Maschinenbau, Informatik und
Wirtschaftsinformatik.
Max Metzer: Diplom-Physiker, promoviert derzeit an der Fakultät für Verkehrswissenschaften “Friedrich List”, TU
Dresden. Parallel beschäftigt er sich mit
Gender MINT Themen als wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter im Fachgebiet Gender
MINT der Hochschule Hannover und
arbeitet im Ingenieurbüro Institut für

Patente zwischen Wissen und
MarktMacht

Ziel des Workshops ist es der Teilnehmerin
Mittel an die Hand zu geben, mit der sie
sich selbständig einen ersten Eindruck
darüber verschaffen kann, ob hinsichtlich
ihrer Idee bereits neuheitsschädliche
Offenbarungen vorliegen. Des Weiteren
wird erläutert, wie sie sich einen Überblick
über eine mögliche Verletzung ihrer Idee
bezogen auf ein Patent des Wettbewerbs
verschaffen kann. Hierzu wird erläutert,
welche Kriterien ein Patent im Prüfungsverfahren vor den Ämtern aufweisen muss
und welche Kriterien einem Verletzungsverfahren zugrunde liegen.


Der Vortrag erläutert das Spannungsfeld
von Patenten zwischen Wissen und Marktmacht: Patentinhaberinnen besitzen einen
Technologievorsprung, der ihnen einen
Wettbewerbsvorsprung und eine gewisse
Marktmacht ermöglicht. Andererseits
müssen für die Patentanmeldung Informationen offenbart werden. So kann es je
nach Produkt oder Verfahren sinnvoll sein,
Markt-Macht durch die Geheimhaltung
von Wissen zu erlangen und zu sichern.

Bochum. Nach beruflichen Stationen in Unternehmen und als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an

Karriere wird definiert als erfolgreiche Berufslaufbahn. Betrachtet man
den Begriff jedoch näher, so ergeben
sich zahlreiche Spannungsfelder.
Berufsleben und Freizeit verschmelzen in der digitalen Welt mehr und
mehr. Eine Karriere bedeutet heute
die Umsetzung eigener persönlicher
Interessen/Lebenswelten. Die Frage
stellt sich daher, in welchen Bereichen dies umgesetzt werden kann.
Akademikerinnen entscheiden sich
meistens für die Praxis- und nicht für
die Hochschulwelt. Der Vortrag soll
Input und Denkanstöße zum Thema
geben und so die Möglichkeiten
einer Fachhochschulkarriere einem

GmbH, vorher Senior Manager Compensation & Benefits bei EADS Deutschland
GmbH.
Ina Roth: Nach dem Bachelor Wirtschaftsinformatik an der TU München absolvierte
sie den Master of Information Systems an
der Universität Lund, Schweden. Derzeit
arbeitet sie im Enterprise Information
Management Strategie bei BMW.
Viele Ingenieurinnen arbeiten innerhalb der
Strukturen eines Tarifvertrags. Wissen, was
in einem Vertrag steht ist eine Sache, wie
man ihn konkret auf seine eigene Lebenssituation zum eigenen Vorteil anwendet ist
eine andere. Dieses Paper zeigt am Beispiel

Wind energy is increasingly used in the
world. Site selection of wind turbines is
too important for increasing their performance and it is necessary to consider
effective parameters in site selection. The
speech focuses on the selection of the
appropriate site to establish wind turbines
in Siahpoush village, Iran. Criteria maps
were prepared making use of access,
geographical and technical criteria analysis. With the help of the AHP model, the
weight of the criteria was determined and
the weighted index method used for overlapping criteria. Based on results, proper
areas were defined, mainly located in the
north of Siahpoush village.

Fault detection in induction motors
operating in non-stationary regimes
has become a need in today’s industry.
Several fault detection techniques have
been proposed lately, based on adequate input signal processing to obtain
fault signatures within the time-frequency domain. The research is being
done as part of my thesis, with the aim
to develop mathematical transform to
detect failures in inverter-fed induction motors, focusing on the transient
regime. This will allow to track low
energy fault related trajectories in the
time-frequency domain, and to distinguish them from other high-energy
harmonics present in the stator current
spectrogram.

The chemical mutagen, Ethyl Methane
Sulphonate (EMS), was used to induce
variation in two Kenyan AAA banana cultivars 'Kampala' and 'Nyoro'. The objective
was to evaluate the variants for host
response to Black Sigatoka caused

by Mycosphaerella Fijiensis. The
incubation and evolution phases
of the disease were significantly
higher for the mutagen-treated
plants. Compared to the controls, 5 % of the toxin tolerant
plants exhibited improved
resistance but had undesirable
variations. The results are discussed
with respect to the application of in
vitro mutation induction as a strategy to
bridge the biotechnology adoption gap by
developing countries.

Rufina Dabo Sarr: Post graduate in
science of education (2005), Ms Sarr is
Professor of Natural Science since 1983. With
19 years teaching at higher school including 3
years as coordinator of the World Links Project
(ICT), and GLOBE Program Coordinator/Senegal (Global Learning and Observations to
benefit the environment). In 2002, Ms Sarr
was appointed Technical Advisor in charge of
Girls’ Education, Science, Environment and ICT
at the Presidency of the Republic. In addition,
she is the Founder President of the Association of Women for the promotion of Science
and Technology in Senegal
(AFSTech/Senegal), member
of INWES Board since
2011, and now Director
of Africa Francophone.
Currently, Ms Sarr is

As the digital economy is becoming
more important, it appears to provide
an answer to the innumerable problems of young graduates. Digital economy option is an adequate response to
youth employability if well supported
and if the “maturation” of the startups
in incubators is sufficient to ensure
the sustainability of the company. This
issue returns us to reflect the classic
view on entrepreneurship and to what
extent the rethink, because it no longer
fully meets the needs of populations.

Agriculture Unit of the Department of Vocational Education, University of Uyo, Nigeria. Her

a leader and member of 15 professional bodies

A professional excursion for engineers in food technology, logitics, recycling. The institute with its fields of
activity will be presented by the institute management. Research assistants will give you a brief insight

Geschichten über die Freiwillige Feuerwehr Freising
und bietet euch einen netten Rundgang durch Freisings schöne Altstadt. Die Strecke beträgt etwa 4 km
und sollte mit Rechen- und Verschnaufpausen in 2
Stunden bequem zu bewältigen sein. Für Anfängerinnen geeignet.

Besuch der Ausstellung BIER.MACHT.MÜNCHEN. Es
wird eine geführte Besichtigung angeboten.
Etwa 700 Exponate beschäftigen sich mit dem Thema
“Münchner Bier und seine Brauereien”. Dabei wird
auch beleuchtet, wie das Bier in der Geschichte die
Stadtkultur, die Gesellschaft, die Politik und die Kunst
beeinflusst hat.
Die Frauen der Wittelsbacher
Über 700 Jahre war das Wittelsbacher Adelsgeschlecht
in Bayern an der Macht. Die (Ehe-)Frauen und Töchter
der Herrscher waren für die bayerische Geschichte
doch häufig entscheidend. Ludmilla von Böhmen
brachte im 13. Jhd. die weiß-blaue Raute mit in die
Ehe. Prinzessin Therese von Bayern wurde 1897 als
erster Frau die Ehrendoktorwürde der Uni München
wegen ihrer glänzenden Kenntnisse der Naturwissenschaften verliehen. Eine Feministische Stadtführung
mit Roswitha Altmann.

Children’s University (1) and creative workshop
Der Vormittag ist bestimmt von Fragen, Antworten
und ganz viel Spaß rund um die Themen: “Bee cool!
Alles über Honigbiene und Honig.” (Biologie) und “Wie
entstehen die Vulkane?” (Geologie). Am Nachmittag
beschäftigen wir uns in der Kreativwerkstatt mit
L.I.S.A., Experimenten und kniffligen Basteleien.

Noch einmal gibt es Fragen, Antworten und ganz viel
Spaß! Heute rund um die Themen: “Unser Planet Erde”
(Physik) und “Von Seidenraupe bis Seide” (Naturwissenschaften)
Robotik mit Himbeer und Serena
Im Workshop “Robotic mit Himbeer” bauen wir
einen kleinen Roboter, der am Ende verschiedene,
von uns programmierte Tätigkeiten ausführen wird.
Am Nachmittag testen wir mit dem online-Spiel
„Serena – Serious Game über erneuerbare Energien”,
welche Faktoren wir in Bezug auf Energieerzeugung
und – verbrauch beeinflussen können und was das für
Wirkungen im Energiesektor zeigt.
Es ist möglich nach dem Workshop einen der Roboterbausätze zu erwerben.

volcanoes evolve?” (Geology, with ample time for

we will visit a creative workshop with LISA, experiments and tinkering.

Once again, there is the opportunity for questions,
answers and a lot of fun! Today’s topics are: “Our
Planet Earth” (physics) and “From silkworm to silk”
(Natural Sciences)
Robotics with raspberry and Serena
In the workshop “Robotic with raspberry” we will build
a small robot and program it to do some tricks. In the
afternoon we test with the online game “Serena –
Serious Game on renewable energy”, what factors can
affect energy production and consumption and how
this affects the energy sector.
It is possible to acquire one of the robots kits after the
workshop.
CONFERENCE PROGRAM
DE: Wir bieten auch dieses Jahr ein naturwissenschaftlich und technisch orientiertes
Programm für Mädchen.
Das Programm wird organisiert und durchgeführt von “The Global Center for Gifted and
Talented Children”. Hauptorganisatorin ist Roya
Klingner, Gründerin und Leiterin des Global
Center. Als Betreuer für den Robotic-Workshop
agiert Klaus Klingner, IT Security Consultant.
Die Veranstaltungen finden in der VHS in
Freising statt. Die Kinder werden zu Fuss in der
Gruppe vom Tagungshaus hin und auch wieder
dorthin zurück gebracht. Die Teilnahme am
Mittagessen ist im Tagungshaus. Die Brotzeiten werden von der Molkerei Weihenstephan
gesponsert.

Die Kinder-Uni-Einheiten werden von verschiedenen ProfessorInnen / MitarbeiterInnen der
Hochschule durchgeführt.

Die Firma beschäftigt sich mit der Simulation von Personenströmen was für die
Planungen von Massenveranstaltungen sowie den Betrieb von Museen, Schlössern
etc. von Bedeutung ist. Für die Analyse der Personenströme steht ein firmeneigenes Softwarepaket (crowd:it) zur Verfügung. Mit diesem Programm können
sowohl der Normalbetrieb als auch der Störfallbetrieb (z.B. Entfluchtungsanalysen)

Anreise
Das Bildungszentrum Kardinal-Döpfner-Haus liegt mitten in Freising auf dem
Domberg.
Bahn
Freising ist Bahnstation für Personen- und Eilzüge an der Strecke München-Landshut sowie Endstation der S-Bahn 1. Der Domberg ist in 10 Minuten vom Bahnhof
aus zu Fuß erreichbar oder per Taxi.
Auto
Es liegt direkt an der B 11 und ist an die Autobahnen München-Nürnberg und
München-Deggendorf angebunden. Von Süden fährt man am besten über das
Autobahnkreuz Neufahrn in Richtung Deggendorf und benützt die Ausfahrt
Freising-Süd. Von Norden kommt man nach Freising über die Autobahnausfahrt
Allershausen.
Fliegen
Der Flughafen München ist 4 km von Freising entfernt. Mit dem Bus Linie 635 von
Flughafen, Terminal aus, ist in ca. 15 Minuten der Bahnhof Freising erreichbar. Von
dort aus in ca. 10 Minuten zu Fuß oder mit dem Taxi.

The Education Centre Kardinal-Döpfner-Haus is located in Freising on the
Domberg.
Train
Freising is a railway station for passenger and express trains on the route MunichLandshut, as well as the last station of tram S-Bahn 1. From here on, the Domberg
can be reached on foot in 10 minutes or by taxi.
Car
Situated close to the B 11 and linked to the highways Munich-Nürnberg and
Munich-Deggendorf. It is best to drive from the south across the highway intersection Neufahrn towards Deggendorf and take the exit Freising-Süd. Coming from
the north you can come via exit Allershausen to Freising.
Flghts
Munich Airport is 4 km away from Freising. With the Bus Line 635 from the airport
terminal, you can reach Freising train station in about 15 minutes. From here on,
the Domberg can be reached on foot in 10 minutes or by taxi.
