フィリピン交換留学
Ken oho. A 4th year college student. I’m going to be staying for about 6 months in the Philippines. The purpose is
language skills improvement. My stay has been about three months. I ‘m writing a draft to the juniors who are
thinking of studying in the Philippines and i hope this draft will be my middle report. I’m going to talk about three
points.
< First - About school classes.>
People who are exchange students can get 8 subjects. The one frame takes 1 hour 30 minutes You can receive a
12-hour English lessons a week. I have 8 subjects. Bar management, Philippine history, business english, sports and
some tutorial classes . You can select various types of subjects.
< Second - About English situation in the Philippines >
In the Philippines English exists as the second language. Filipinos who are able to receive the education can speak
English. But there is a local language called Tagalog. If you go to restaurants or shopping mall you’d talk in English.
But there are also many situations that it is necessary to talk Tagalog. For example when you ride jeep or take a taxi. I
also think it is a good idea to study the Tagalog greetings.
< Third - For security of the Philippines >
It is worse than Japan. But you don’t have to worry excessively. If you are able to judge people or danger when you
walk in the middle of the night alone, It is no problem. There are a lot of people who are very kind and friendly. People
prioritise spending time with their friends and family. I got the impression that people living in the Philippines have a
rich mind and hospitable. To be safe when you travel, I’ll recommend you read internet sites about the Philippines
because it is beneficial so you do not get lost.
< Finally >
When you study abroad in a foreign country, it is important to study about the culture and the people of the country. I
feel we have to know the country's history in advance to some extent. It is important to consider your own attitude
when you exchange opinions with local friends and local citizens. If you know the country’s background it will help
you learn better. It can also avoid trouble in advance. Please study in advance in order to portray good attitude and
conduct.

健
４回生の大野健です。フィリピンに約６ヶ月間語学力向上の目的で留学し
ています。現在渡比して3か月が経とうとしています。今、途中報告を兼
ねて今後フィリピン留学を考えている後輩に向けて原稿を書いています。
3点現地から報告します
＜１点目学校の授業について＞
受講できる講義は交換留学生は最高８コマです。１コマ１時間３０分なの
で一週間に１２時間英語の授業を受ける事が出来ます。私はバービジネス、
ヒストリー、ビジネス英語、スポーツとチュートリアルのクラスをいくつ
か受講しています。授業のバラエティはとても豊富です。
＜２点目フィリピンの英語事情について＞
フィリピンでは大２言語として英語が存在します。教育を受ける事が出来
ているフィリピン人はほとんどが英語を話す事が出来ます。しかし現地の
言葉でタガログ語があります。飲食店やショッピングモールでは全て英語
で会話しますがタクシーに乗る時やジープニーに乗る際に英語が伝わらな
いことも多々あります。英語に加えて挨拶程度のタガログ語を勉強してお
くと良いと思います。
＜３点目フィリピンの治安について＞
日本よりは悪いです。しかし過剰に心配する必要は無いです。夜中一人で
歩く事が安全か危険かのジャッジができる人なら問題無いと思います。現
地の人はとても親切で温かい人柄の人が多いです。友達と過ごす時間や家
族と過ごす時間をとても大切にする人達です。心が豊かな人達が多い印象
です。治安対策についてはインターネットに有益なサイトがいくらか存在
するので目を通しておく事を勧めます。
＜最後に＞
フィリピンに限らず外国に留学する際にはある程度その国の歴史を事前に
知っておく必要があると感じています。留学先で友達と意見を交換する際
や自分の振る舞いを考える際にもその国の背景を知っておけば留学の深み
が増します。またトラブルを事前に回避する事もできます。今回が２回目
の留学ですが今回も他国からの留学生の多さに驚きました。大学生活に目
的が見つからないと言っている人にこそあれこれ考えるのはやめて短期で
もいいから一回必死にバイトして金作って海渡って欲しいと感じてます。
奨学金も借りる事ができます。条件が揃っているなら留学に対してお金と
時間を使う事も一つの賢い決断だと感じます。
