The waiting was worth it. A year after their 25th anniversary, FIDDLER’S GREEN roll out their 13th studio album DEVIL’S DOZEN. The DEVIL’S DOZEN album cover, with the diabolic unlucky-number 13 on the forehead of a flame-red, horned skull on a background of Hell’s-dungeons black, also adds to the promise of wickedly satisfying musical pleasure. With this CD, FIDDLER’S GREEN strikes out on new roads and, along with its new production team, tests how the band’s own musical style might change in the future. In the legendary Principal studios, and together with Jörg Umbreit und Vincent Sorg (Die Toten Hosen, In Extremo, Broilers) the band recorded, edited and reworked blood-tingling material to create a devil’s dozen of brand new songs to light flames-eternal in any poor sinner’s soul. And those who know FIDDLER’S GREEN will know that the devil is in the detail: while previous albums were threaded through with traditional songs, in this 13th album those elements are deliberately less common, and other styles and themes thus come to the fore. Here, you might find yourself carried aloft by songs played at an infernal speed, carried on a storm of longing for back home on the Emerald Isle, feeling the wild winds whip through your hair: you’ll want nothing more than to raise your glass and drink a deep, dark draught of the good stuff. Hauntingly melancholy ballads and solid, feel-good reggae provide the necessary opportunities to catch your breath for a moment, but sleep is not an option; the tankards have been charged again with cool, refreshing beer! The lyrics are sometimes humorous, sometimes satirical: red-hot rhythms flow directly into your blood, make your blood dance in your veins, make you dance like a demon… and the devil take the hindmost. Full of raw energy, this is demonic IRISH SPEEDFOLK at its finest. For the release, this hot stuff is offered in a Deluxe version, with a CD and an exclusive live DVD (a recording of an unplugged concert in the ARRI studios in Munich in 2015) and as a Limited Edition: the Deluxe version comes in a metal box with a belt which has a high-quality metal buckle. It also includes badges, patches and stickers and also comes, naturally, as a digipak. DEVIL’S DOZEN can be experienced live from October 2016 to January 2017 on the band’s extended tour through 15 cities in Germany and in countries neighboring Germany.
