Univ.-Prof. Dr. Bodo Ziegler Leiter des Instituts Einladung zum Seminar über Asteroseismology from Space Asteroseismology is one of the most sophisticated tools in stellar astrophysics that has manifold applications, from characterising exoplanets, over constraining stellar structure and evolution models, to testing nuclear physics. It was developed more than 50 years ago but was long lacking appropriate observations to unfold its full potential. This has changed when space-based photometric time-series observations became available about 10 years ago. We are now in the situation to have access to more data (of unprecedented quality) we can actually work on and still more will come. This drives many improvements in stellar structure and evolution theory with implications to various fields of astrophysics. We are truly in the golden era of asteroseismology. I will report on recent developments in this exciting field. von Mag. Dr. Thomas Kallinger Institut für Astronomie Montag, 10.
