Das documenta Archiv ist eine Einrichtung zur Archivierung, Dokumentation und wissenschaftlichen Bearbeitung von Text- und Bildquellen zur modernen und
zeitgenössischen Kunst mit dem Schwerpunkt auf der
Geschichte der documenta Ausstellungen. Es wurde
1961 gegründet und zählt durch den kontinuierlichen
Aufbau seines Literatur- und Medienbestandes zu
den umfangreichsten Dokumentationszentren für die
Kunst des 20. und 21. Jahrhunderts in Deutschland.
The documenta Archiv is an institution for the archiving, documentation and scholarly processing of text
and image sources for modern and contemporary art.
Its focal point is on the history of the documenta exhibitions. It was founded in 1961. Through the continual
development of its literature and media inventory it
has become one of the most comprehensive documentation centers for art of the 20th and 21st centuries.
