EXECUTIVE FORUM
25 October 2016, 08:30-17:00
PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP: Creating a Culture of Care
25 October 2016, 13:00-17:00
The Executive Forum is a one-day safety and networking event that brings together senior leaders from the
world’s top companies. This year‘s Executive Forum will cover:
• New advances in neuroscience research and what that tells us about the leader’s role in minimising
human error in the workplace.
• What type of strategies executives are implementing and how to prevent serious injuries
• Safety journeys by world-class organisations
It is over ten years since the Texas City disaster. As we reflect back, this accident and others have clearly
identified the folly of a reliance on low personal injury rates as a safety indicator to provide a true picture
of process safety performance and the health of the safety culture. A focus on high probability low
consequence events along with failures in leadership, control of work, and workforce engagement created
a culture of risk blindness where it had been normalised to proceed in the face of danger. This half-day
workshop will demonstrate how creating a “Culture of Care” can generate predictability, reliability and
safety as an output.
