The GIGA German Institute of Global and Area Studies / Leibniz-Institut für Globale und
Regionale Studien seeks to hire a
student research assistant.
Applications are invited for a position in the international research network “International Diffusion and Cooperation of Authoritarian Regimes” (IDCAR) with up to 40 hours per month,
starting on 1 October 2016 for 12 months. This employment requires physical presence in
Hamburg.
Tasks:

assistance to the network coordinator, especially in the preparation of activities of the
IDCAR research network
assistance in literature research and management
updating of the research network’s homepage and twitter account
assistance in the establishment of a database on the international diffusion and cooperation of authoritarian regimes
General requirements:
•

•
very good command of English
student (at least two semesters of BA studies; MA students are particularly welcome
to apply) in a social science (political science, sociology, area studies)
good command of MS Office programs and content management systems
Special requirements:
•

•
•
knowledge of comparative politics and/or international relations
talent in communication and organizational matters
good analytical skills
experience with literature software (Zotero)
experience in database management, and/or statistical software will be an asset
