Modeling of Convective Heat and Mass Transfer
and its Industrial Applications
The lecture focuses on different approaches to modeling of convective
heat and mass transfer, which include boundary layer theory (using
differential and integral forms of the transport equations), similarity
solutions and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) methodology.
Results of the CFD modeling include several examples of
turbomachinery and automotive applications: internal ccoling of gas
turbine blades; rotating-disk systems; turbochargers; exhaust aftertreatment; thermal management and a water jet drive.
Results of simulations enabled drawing practical recommendations for
the design or performance improvement.
