In a letter addressed to the new Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Naik has reminded him that the previous government had sanctioned 2.5 FSI to facilitate re-development. The scheme however could not be implemented for want of the mandatory order from the state government in the form of a GR. Naik has requested that the same be issued at once. He has also requested that the illegal buildings built by the residents of the gaothans be regularized and additional FSI be granted to facilitate their redevelopment. According to a third demand, Naik has sought the vehicles owned by the residents of Vashi, Airoli and Kharghar be exempted from the payment of toll. Chalega!”, “Theek hai”…These statements seem to reveal the fundamental attitude of some people who seem to have no worries at all! Somehow these type of persons are so chilled out that looking at them one feels foolish to go about worrying over a few hiccups in life! Hic’ cups? There seem to be plenty! Staining your pure white office shirt with that faulty ball point pen can really make one feel edgy through the day even as the extra draft of chilled air emanating from a nearby AC can cause discomfort and more grief than one can reckon. Unable to catch the 9.55 a.m. local train from Panvel can really upset some people for that whole day! No time to recharge the mobile on the way to work and then missing out on an important call can afflict all other work for that day, if we let it! The domestic servant comes an hour later than usual and it sets off a chain of delays in cooking and all the subsequent chain of routine activities for the day. Any one from the laundryman to the provisions deliveryman or the delayed courier can upset our applecart and leave us with a nagging sense of unhappiness; especially at our inability to control these ‘freak mishaps’….! Getting angry and exasperated, upset and worried, frantic and frustrated even while merely crossing the road when a rogue driver honks loudly, whizzing past at break neck speed and that too from the wrong direction is not an uncommon experience. So possibly after we allow ourselves to get agitated, we often punish our own selves especially when we say, “Ab mood nahin hai! Just a while ago we imagine the delicious pista ‘kulfi’ across the road but now we just don’t want it! Letting an external nonsense to upset our good mood, spoil our joie de vivre and joy of life is letting our BASIC PEACE GET DISTURBED! Let us not let that happen! Retaining, sustaining, protecting our basic inner peace will always help us to not only smile in the face of adversity but also emerge with creative ideas of how to fill our life with SHEER DELIGHT, GREAT JOY AND PURE BLISS! The best thing about Fadnavis is that he is a Brahmin who will head a State which was previously dominated by Marathas. Thackeray was invited by BJP president Amit Shah as a special guest, though BJP has not yet decided on taking the Sena on board to form its government in Maharashtra. The 25-year-old alliance between the BJP and Shiv Sena had broken last month following differences over sharing of seats for the Assembly polls. BJP leaders were also furious about the comments passed by newspapers run by Shiv Sena. In the run-up to the polls, Thackeray had said the BJP’s star campaigners were like “Afzal Khan’s aulad”. Addressing a public rally at Tuljapur, Sena national president had said, “What are they up to? First Modi comes to campaign, then his entire cabinet team campaigns for votes in Maharashtra. They are like Afzal Khan’s aulad, trying to conquer this state.” Another issue that has hurt the BJP leadership is an editorial that appeared in Sena mouthpiece “Saamna” a day after the poll campaign ended. “The BJP ignored Sena after the Lok Sabha win. The Sena played a significant role, otherwise even Modi’s father would not have been able to win majority in the Lok Sabha polls,” it said. Sources said the BJP has conveyed to the Sena that it wants a public or private apology. The party also wants the Sena to declare its support without any terms and conditions. The BJP’s list of dos and don’ts form part of the back channel negotiations, which also include discussions on cabinet berths. With the rise of BJP in India as well as in certain states, it is a clear indication of the fact that Brahmins have made a comeback because Brahmins have bagged most top BJP posts. The Brahmin, Bania party doesn’t seem to be interested in romancing the OBCs anymore. The BJP’s choice of presidents in electorally crucial states as well as its central list of officebearers symbolically highlights the trend quite clearly. The central unit led by Nitin Gadkari is dominated by the Brahmins. Besides the two leaders, Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley, the senior-most general secretary, Ananth Kumar, is also a Brahmin. However, the party has been led by Brahmins in most other states. Pandit Ashwini Sharma has been heading it in Punjab, while Arun Chaturvedi has been the president of the Rajasthan unit. In Himachal Pradesh, the BJP has found a Brahmin, Pandit Khimi Ram, to head it. In states such as Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Bihar, the BJP has ended up appointing a Brahmin. RSS-appointee Prabhat Jha is the chosen one to head Madhya Pradesh. Similarly in Bihar, three prominent names like Mangal Pandey, Ashwini Choubey and Sukhda Pandey dominate and they are Brahmins. They were brought to forefront to counter-balance Nitish’s overt stress on wooing the “extreme backwards”. Even in Uttar Pradesh, the BJP is desperate to fill the lacuna created by Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s withdrawal from public life. While the BJP is considering many candidates, Lucknow mayor Dinesh Sharma is a strong contender because of his Brahmin lineage. Thus Brahmins have at last made a comeback. The authorities have totally failed to provide the growing needs of people residing in New Panvel which is lacking in basic facilities such as transportation system. Residents have to depend on auto rickshaws or their own vehicles to reach their destination. The autos are primarily causing problem to the commuters and charging extra amount. They do not have any mature system and they have total monopoly as they know people have no other alternative to travel in the city. Auto drivers in the locality make life of people miserable with their whims and fancies. So it is most essential to start the intercity bus services in and around Panvel, New Panvel, Khanda Colony and Kamothe. The authorities totally failed to start this service in spite of Ministry of Urban Development giving its approval for the project long time back. It is high time that the bus service begins immediately and if this is done then it will surely yield good result and provide great relief to the citizens of the locality. The people of this area are desperately waiting for such service, which has been pending since long time. - Probir Kumar Bose, New Panvel Unique record of Younis Khan It is a matter of great revelation for the Pakistani batsman Younis Khan to score hat-trick of centuries in three outings at Abu Dhabi against a formidable Australian side in a test match situation. He was the cynosure of cricketing world as of now as he moved from one hundred to another. Incidentally, when the Pakistani one drop batsman scored his century in the first test, it was the first from the seasoned batsman against the Australian side. Now he went on to add two more hundreds and created an unique record. The Pakistani batsman was thinking of quitting International cricket after he was dropped from the one day side. He now revealed his mind and informed the press about his intention to play 2015 World cup down under. His scintillating stroke play and the way he scored runs at a brisk pace during a crucial time of the match shows his tenacity to play for couple of more years before calling it a day. Pakistan’s batting is susceptible to both pace and spin and they need a sheet-anchor like Younis Khan to take the side to safety and go for offence later on. Younis Khan became the first man to compile three consecutive centuries against Australia in 90 years. Younis’ reached his century in a mere 128 balls, summing up the escalation of his technical and mental mastery over the bowlers following his dogged wrestle with them on the first day of the series. Younis Khan is the modern Bradman of World of cricket. Generally spin bowlers mature with age but here is the case of a batsman doing wonderfully well in International cricket. - C. K. Subramaniam, Sanpada CMYK By Umesh Parida PANVEL: To attract the revenue through publicity and marketing the Panvel Municipal Corporation has erected a number hoarding structures across the city. The PMC will soon get more revenue by employing an agency to manage the same. The PMC has erected structures at Garden Hotel, one near the Sion Panvel Highway opposite the New Panvel flyover, while one more is there at the Ambedkar statue. The latest one has come up at the Ambedkar statue within days after the votes were counted for the assembly election. The Garden Hotel hoarding, though was erected months ahead of the election code of conduct, this was booked and used by the Thakur family for putting up the ‘Badalte Panvel..….’ tag line advertisement. This did give massive publicity but invited ire from the opposition. This PMC hoarding Thakur they had invited criticism. The PMC hoarding spots also had an agency’s mobile number for people to contact for ad- spot also featured the project works whereas the Peasants and Workers Party questioned about the projects which was conceptualized or started by it long ago. Though the projects were executed during the tenure of Prashant vertisement. With the election now over, whether the agency will again bring in ads from the politicos or others is little known. However, it is known that the PMC will earn more revenue in the coming days. The one area of concern for Mumbai City FC through-out the early stages of the tournament has been the inability of the defence to track back when the opposition responds on the counter and it would be interesting to see what changes coach Reid makes to the starting XI to tackle the same against a side that would be high on confidence after winning their first league encounter a couple of day’s ago against FC Pune City The Kerala Blasters which is co owned by Master blaster Sachin Tendulkar were quick when on the at- Cont. from pg. 5 his belt and Andre (Moritz) is now 100 per cent after a bout of illness. So I hope that we will be a lot stronger tomorrow,” he added. Reid and his staff would also be happy with the return of skipper Syed Rahim Nabi to the line-up and availability of French international Nicolas Anelka, both of whom played the full 90 minutes in their last encounter in Chennai. The score-line, notwithstanding, both Anelka and Nabi showed glimpses of their class and could run riots over the Kerala Blasters’ defence if tack against FC Pune City and the likes of Manuel Friedrich and Raju Gaikwad would have to ensure that custodian Subrata Pal isn’t exposed to one-onone situations against the opposition strikers. Reid hinted as much when he insisted that Pal was an exceptional goalkeeper and it was the job of the team to defend well in front of him so that they do not concede “cheap goals” while referring to 10 goals conceded as against six scored. The home team is currently placed at seventh position in the eight team pool with three points as against the visitors who are placed fifth with five points. They police hardly take any action. The lottery method of cheating continues daily for hours. The group, according to those who were cheated, are found con- hours of the morning that particular spot has little police surveillance, these gamblers take advantage of the situation. Their modus operandi keeps chang- sometimes gamble on the slip road that joins the water tank with the Panvel railway station. Many people participate in this game which usually is played in the morning and in the process many have been looted of big sum. A around 6.30 am a group of people are found assembled on one side of the slum pocket to start the lottery game. A group of few persons continued for few days after which a few more joined them. This appears like a huge network of organized cheating but the sisting of members who keep changing from time to time. They start their own way of operation by attracting people and then in the name of lottery they cheat many. Those who become aware of their wrongdoings and threaten to complain are threatened into being silent by these gamblers. On one occasion during the morning hours a group had slapped a person who had complained about their wrongdoings. Being a slum pocket and since during the early ing with arrival of new members belonging to this huge network. The members keep on changing to prevent those cheated from getting a chance to complain about them. What is surprising is that even though this morning lottery game in the name of gambling or cheating has been going on for months the police do not take action. Many complain that the police themselves support this network and hence no help can be expected from the police. By Umesh Parida NAVI MUMBAI: The massive hailstorm that hit the city a month ago has given much relief to the slum dwellers of the city. The hailstorm has broken down many tion along the railway tracks also. In both the instance, the slum pockets which generally use wood as fuel have managed to collect a massive stock of broken tree which had fallen during the Navratri time are yet to be cleared by the municipal corporation or the railways due to less accessibility. This has resulted in slum dwellers using trees before the Dussehra celebration but has resulted in providing a massive stock of woods for fuel for the poor people. It can be noted that due to heavy rainfall and the thunderstorm during the Navratri days a large number of trees were uprooted. The Thane-Belapur road had witnessed massive tree destruc- branches or the entire tree. They have stored these for future use. They are saved of the work of collecting the wood as these slum dwellers do not need to axe trees for at least the coming few months. A slum dweller near the Ghansoli railway station has collected a massive stock of woods and has kept it in the storage. Many trees this opportunity to get the trees axed and collected. They are holding the stock for their need. Even a slum dweller at Turbhe says, “We will have to spend less this season for fuel and other needs since we have a huge stock of woods collected and stored for cooking purpose and we got them free of cost.” RISN Observes Rashtriya Ekta Diwas CELEBRATION Govind Milk & Milk Products, in its endeavour to further enhance brand Govind and scale new heights, has developed a new identity that will enrich its brand value and give itself more opportunities for success.
