The violinist Skerdjano Keraj born in 1972 in Albania was given his first violin
lessons at the “Liceu Artistik Jordan Misja” – a boarding school of music for highly
gifted children in Tirana – when he was six years old. He has lived in Germany since
1992, where he took his artistic maturity examination of chamber music “with
honours” with Prof. Andreas Reiner in Essen. Additionally he finished his concert
exam with Prof. Werner Scholz in Berlin, also “with honours”.
Skerdjano Keraj is winner of the Folkwang-Prize for music in 2001 and of the
International Chamber Music Competition, Thessaloniki. He was concertmaster of
the Folkwang Chamber Orchestra in Essen and of the orchestra of the Pfalztheatre in
Kaiserslautern. From 2003 to 2015 he was concertmaster of the Aachen Symphony
Orchestra. Since 2009 he has been docent und since 2015 he is professor for violin
with his own violin masterclass at the Cologne University of Music and Dance,
branch Aachen.
