The Dpt. of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine at the University of Bonn Medical
Center invites applications for a
W2 Professorship in Perioperative Medical Informatics and Technology
The successful candidate will, with regard to the relevant responsibilities in research, teaching,
administration, and patient care, be employed under a permanent, private law contract of
employment.
The successful applicant will be able to represent the disciplines of anesthesiology in research
and teaching, with regard to both the its spectrum of clinical and the domain specific medical
informatics topics.
To ascertain efficient implementation of the medical informatics endeavors within the
structures of the university hospital, leadership experience in the implementation of projects at
the interface between clinical processes and information technology will be an advantage.
The successful applicant will, as attending of the Dpt. of Anesthesiology and Intensive Care
Medicine, lead the section Perioperative Medical Technology and Medical Informatics of said
department. He will be responsible for coordinating the future development of the
department's IT systems supporting patient care and scientific activities, the planning and
coordination of medical device purchases, the further development of medical device/medical
IT integration, and further optimization of information technology based support of clinical,
administrative and scientific processes.
Requirements for this position include an excellent scientific track record in an area of medical
informatics relevant to anesthesiology or intensive care medicine, successful acquisition of
extramural funding, the „Habilitation“ in Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Medicine or
equivalent scientific achievements following § 36 Hochschulgesetz NRW, and German board
certifications in anesthesiology („Facharzt Anästhesiologie“) and medical informatics
(„Zusatzbezeichnung Medizininformatik“) or equivalent qualifications.

Higher Education Act of North Rhine-Westphalia (Hochschulgesetz des Landes NordrheinWestfalen).
