AUSTERLITZ to premiere in Venice at the 73rd Mostra Internazionale d’Arte Cinematografica Imperativ Film is delighted to announce that AUSTERLITZ, a new documentary film by Sergei Loznitsa, will premiere at the 73rd Mostra Internationale d’Arte Cinematografica in Venice this year. Filmed on the territory of former concentration camps in Germany AUSTERLITZ is an observation of visitors to memorial sites that have been founded in these places. “One of the biggest mysteries of such places is the motive that induces thousands of people to spend their summer weekends in former concentration camps looking at ovens in a crematorium. To try to come to grips with this, I made this film.” - Sergei Loznitsa AUSTERLITZ has been made with the kind support of Die Beauftragte der Bundesregierung für Kultur und Medien, German Federal Filmboard, Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg GmbH. Since 1997 Sergei Loznitsa has made 18 internationally acclaimed documentaries. His two feature films, “My Joy” (2010) and “In the Fog” (2012) had their world premieres at the Festival de Cannes, where “In the Fog” received the FIPRESCI prize. Loznitsa’s feature-length documentary film “Maidan“, dedicated to the Ukrainian Revolution, premiered in 2014 at the Festival de Cannes. His feature-length documentary film “The Event” that revisits the dramatic moments of August 1991 in the USSR premiered at the 72nd Mostra Internationale d’Arte Cinematografica, la Biennale di Venezia in 2015.
