AboveとOver
絵を参考にしよう。

Aboveには、Onと同様に、「～の上
に」と言う意味があるが、こちらは接
触せずにいることです。

（例）There is a blue bird flying above
the trees.

Overにも、Aboveと同様接触なしで上
にあると言う意味があり、「～を越え
て」や「～に広く覆って」という意味も
あります。

（例）There was a small bridge over
the river.

In front of と Beside
In front of


In front ofは「～の前に」と言う意
味である。
（例）There are three doors in
front of him.
Beside


Besideは「～のそばに」と言う意味
である。
（例）He stands beside us.
BelowとUnderの使い方



共に「～より低い位置にある」と言う意味だが、Underは何か
に覆われているもの表すのに使い、Belowは物理的にすぐ下
にないもの、あるいは、必ずしもすぐ下にないもの表すのに
使う。
例えば、机の下はUnder the table
地球で表すとBelow the earth
地下ならどこでもよい
机の下で汚職する
Behindの使い方



「～の後ろ」をさす。
（例）He is five meters behind me.(A)
He is the third (person) behind me.(B)
和製英語
コンセントは英語でもコンセン
トと言うでしょうか？

(米国「outlet」、英国「socket」)であって、コン
セントはConcentric Plugの略だと言う説があり
ます。

他にも電子レンジはMicrowaveと言います。
