題目/Title: Drought modelling and forecasting in Africa –
With a focus on hydrological drought
Although drought is a major natural disaster globally, it is particularly frequent
and devastating in Africa. Drought forecasting and warning is increasingly
considered an integral part of drought risk management, which can reduce
drought losses significantly. In this talk Dr. Maskey brings in experience and
results of the European Union funded project DEWFORA (www.dewfora.net,
2011-2013) on drought early warning and forecasting in Africa. With particular
expertise in process-based hydrological modelling, his talk will focus on how
hydrological simulations can be used for drought assessments.
