• Three major components.
– Solenoid magnet
– Cylindrical Detector Hodoscope (CDH)

Solenoid magnet
• 1st meeting together with NEC-TOKIN engineer has been done on
26/July/2006.
• Basic lists of specification for the solenoid magnet we are agreed on
the meeting
– construct normal magnet, not super conducting magnet.
– Size of the magnet inside (volume for detector),
Φ=1.2m, length=1.2m
– Maximum field strength can be achieved ~ 0.7 T
– Solenoid magnet will be covered with ion case, to keep uniformity of the
magnetic field inside, but must have Φ=0.35m (diameter) hole on the
end cap plates to keeping space for the cables of CDC/CDH getting out
from solenoid
– Keep deviation of the field strength around tracker volume must be
within 1%
– End cap ion plates must be dismountable easily to keep accessibility to
the detector inside for maintenance purpose
• 2nd meeting scheduled on 8/Aug/2006 (tomorrow)

Key point
Specification of the solenoid must be fixed by mid Aug. i.e. in a week
PMTs
• PMTs for CDH also will be purchased using JFY06 budget
• CDH will be installed inside solenoid,
so that PMTs must have high resistively against high magnetic field
Fine mesh phototube will be our choice.
• Hamamatsu H8409-70(R7761) will be our 1st choice.

( contract with ~ \10M is rather easy. It will takes a couple of weeks.)
• Contract will be made on beginning of September
• PMTs will be delivered to us by end of Feb/2007
