ジョージア工科大学の紹介と国際化の取り組みについて
ジョージア工科大学は 1885 年に設立されたアメリカ合衆国の公立大学です。ビジネス、コンピューター、デザイン、
工学、リベラルアーツ、理・科学の 6 つのカレッジから構成されており、ジョージア州アトランタにあるキャンパスに
おいて約 25,000 人の学生が学んでいます。特に工学系及びコンピューターの分野で高い評価を得ており、2015 年の上
海交通大学世界大学ランキングのコンピューター分野では 22 位。また、Times Higher Education2016 では総合で 41
位、QS 社世界大学ランキングでは総合で 84 位という高い評価を得ています。
今回はジョージア工科大学のリベラルアーツ学部から学部長及び日本政治研究者をお招きし、ジョージア工科大学の
紹介と国際化の取り組みについてお話し頂きます。皆様どうぞ奮ってご参加ください。

Jacqueline J. Royster リベラルアーツ学部長
略歴
Dr. Royster is Dean of Georgia Tech's Ivan Allen College of Liberal Arts. She holds the Ivan Allen
Jr. Dean’s Chair in Liberal Arts and Technology, and is Professor of English in the School of
Literature, Media, and Communication. A graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, Royster earned
an M.A. and D.A. in English from the University of Michigan. Her research centers on rhetorical
studies, literacy studies, women’s studies, cultural studies, areas in which she has authored and
co-authored numerous articles and book chapters. She was consulting writer for Writer’s Choice,
a textbook series for grades 6 – 8, and co-editor of Reader’s Choice, a literature series for grades
9 – 12, both published by Glencoe/McGraw-Hill.
Brian Woodall 教授
略歴
Brian Woodall received his Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley,
and has held full-time faculty positions at the University of California at Irvine and at Harvard
University as well as visiting appointments at the University of Tokyo. Dr. Woodall's broad areas
of research expertise focus on issues of comparative politics, political economy, and international
relations with an emphasis on Japan and East Asia. His current research projects examine
issues related to Japanese and East Asian energy and environmental policies, and the conditions
for policy innovation in energy, transportation, and sustainable development in different world
cities. Dr. Woodall has received research support from the U.S.-Japan Friendship Commission,
the Abe Fellowship Program of the Social Science Research Council, the University of California
Pacific Rim Research Program, and the Japan Foundation. His teaching includes graduate and
undergraduate courses in comparative politics, East Asia, Japanese politics and political
economy, and U.S.-Japan relations.
