Funktionsprinzip: Die Zuführung des Materials erfolgt von oben über den Einfülltrichter der Zerkleinerungsanlage. Der Vorschub des Schiebers erfolgt schrittweise in Abhängigkeit der Stromaufnahme des Hauptmotors. Die Zerkleinerung des Materials erfolgt zwischen den rotierenden Messern auf der Rotorwelle und einem feststehenden Gegenmesser im Maschinenbett.
