Abstract:
In this talk we discuss a quasi-linear elliptic-parabolic system of pdes with a strongly nonlinear interface
condition arising in the modeling of the electro-chemical processes in Li-ion batteries on the micro scale.
Using a Schauder fixed point argument we establish local existence of weak solutions by exploiting the
properties of the elliptic subproblem and applying a maximal parabolic regularity for inhomogeneous
Neumann conditions on non-smooth domains. In three or less spatial dimensions we obtain uniqueness of
these solutions by Sobolev embeddings.
As auxillary results we discuss two finite element discretizations of the elliptic subproblem and present some
numerical results.
