Marta Prus: »Ich habe Angst, Einfluss auf Dein Leben zu nehmen. Es ist
schön, dass ich Dir dieses Mal geholfen habe, aber die Frage ist: Will ich
das, und werde ich Dir beim nächsten Mal auch helfen können?«
Chris: »Wenn ich Dir glauben würde, dass ich es für mich selbst tue,
hätte ich längst aufgegeben.«
Marta Prus: »I‘m afraid of exerting my influence on your life. It was nice
to be able to help you this time but the question is: Do I want that, and
will I be able to help you the next time?«
Chris: »If I believed you, that I was doing it for myself, then I‘d have
given up long ago.«
Eigentlich will Marta Prus einen Dokumentarfilm über die jungen Männer in dem Rehabilitationszentrum Monar in Warschau drehen. Es ist ein
Ort, an dem die Zeit still zu stehen scheint, man redet viel miteinander,
reflektiert sein eigenes und das Verhalten der anderen. Alle Patienten hier
sind aus dem gleichen Grund da: Sie wollen loskommen von den Drogen.
Actually Marta Prus wants to shoot a documentary about the young men
in Monar rehabilitation centre in Warsaw... It‘s a place where time seems
to stand still, everyone talks to each other a lot, reflecting on their own
behaviour and the behaviour of others. All the patients are here for the
same reason: they want to escape their addiction to drugs.
Die junge Filmemacherin lernt den 21-jährigen Chris kennen, gewinnt
schnell sein Vertrauen. Vier Jahre war Chris abhängig und ist nun dank
der Therapeut_innen und geregelten Strukturen clean. Alles, was eine
Überforderung bedeuten könnte, lässt ihn jedoch noch immer sofort an
einen Joint denken. Nun ist er überfordert. Von seiner Zuneigung zur
Filmemacherin, die ihm so viel Aufmerksamkeit schenkt. Es entsteht ein
Liebesfilm.
The young female film-maker meets 21-year-old Chris, and quickly
gains his trust. For four years Chris was addicted to drugs. Thanks to
the therapists and the clear structure provided here, he is now clean.
But when faced by any kind of potential stressful situation, his thoughts
immediately revert to having a joint. And right now he is feeling
overwhelmed. The reason? He is attracted to the film-maker who is
paying so much attention to him. Out of this situation comes a film
about love.
Mów do mnie stellt im Rahmen der dokumentarischen Gattung die Frage
schlechthin: Können Dokumentarist_innen sich auf die Rolle des Beobachters zurückziehen? Welche Verpflichtungen erwachsen aus dem
besonderen Vertrauensverhältnis? Welche Art von Einflussnahme ist zulässig? Und wenn sie die Rolle eines Vertrauten, Gesprächspartners, Verbündeten anbieten, was heißt es, diese Beziehung nach Ende des Drehs
aufzukündigen?
Biografie von Marta Prus
Geboren 1987 in Warschau, studiert Prus nach einem Studium der
Kunstgeschichte an der Universität Warschau seit 2009 Regie an der
Polish National Film School in Łódż. Währenddessen war sie Teilnehmerin eines Dokumentarfilmkurses von Andrzej Wajda. Ihr erster Film
Vakha and Magomed (2010) gewann sechs Preise auf internationalen
Filmfestivals.
Talk to Me poses the ultimate question in the context of the documentary
film genre: Can documentary makers maintain the role of observers?
What obligations arise from this special relationship of trust? What kind
of influence on their subjects is allowed? And if they offer themselves as
confidant, someone to talk to, an ally, what happens when they put an
end to this relationship once the shoot is over?
Biography of Marta Prus
Born 1987 in Warsaw, Prus first studied art history at the University of
Warszaw, and since 2009 has been studying directing. She also took a
documentary film course there by Andrzej Wajda. Her first film Vakha
and Magomed (2010) won six awards at international film festivals.
