Die Bedeutung von Forschung und Entwicklung in Korea zeigt sich u.a. an den ständig steigenden Ausgaben, die gemessen am BIP den OECD-Durchschnitt überschritten haben. Das wissenschaftliche Potenzial des Landes ist höher, als es sich bislang in der Zahl der von der Alexander von Humboldt-Stiftung Geförderten widerspiegelt. Korea ist daher eines der Schwerpunktländer der Stiftung. Es wird angestrebt, mehr qualifizierte Nachwuchswissenschaftlerinnen und Nachwuchswissenschaftler aus Korea zu gewinnen, insbesondere auch aus bisher schwächer vertretenen Fächern und unter Berücksichtigung von Top-Einrichtungen, von denen die AvH bisher nur wenige Bewerbungen erhalten hat. Das Humboldt-Kolloquium in Seoul dient gleichermaßen der Pflege der Kontakte im AlumniNetzwerk wie auch der Gewinnung neuer Mitglieder. Es bietet den teilnehmenden Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern die Gelegenheit ihr eigenes Forschungsthema im Rahmen von interdisziplinären Arbeitsgruppen einem breiteren Publikum vorzustellen und somit Impulse für fachliche und interdisziplinäre Netzwerke zu geben. In einem gesonderten Panel werden ausgewählte qualifizierte Nachwuchsforschende ihre Poster vorstellen. Ziel ist es sie an das Humboldt-Netzwerk heranzuführen und für einen Forschungsaufenthalt in Deutschland zu gewinnen. Humboldtianer werden über ihre Erfahrungen in Deutschland berichten und den Nachwuchs beraten. In einer abschließenden Plenumsdiskussion sollen Chancen und Herausforderungen neuer wissenschaftlicher Kooperationen zwischen exzellenten deutschen und koreanischen Forscherpersönlichkeiten verschiedener Fachdisziplinen und Generationen im Kontext der besonderen Rolle des koreanischen Humboldt-Netzwerkes und der AvH diskutiert werden – folgende Fragen stehen im Mittelpunkt: 4 Welche spezifische Rolle spielt das Humboldt-Netzwerk für die deutsch-koreanische Kooperation? Worin bestehen die besonderen Chancen und Herausforderungen deutsch-koreanischer Forschungskooperationen? Wie können interdisziplinäre, länderübergreifende, generationenüberschreitende Forschungskooperationen verstärkt gefördert werden und welche Rolle kann die AvH dabei spielen? Worin bestehen die Herausforderungen den wissenschaftlichen Nachwuchs für einen Forschungsaufenthalt im jeweils anderen Land – in Deutschland bzw. Korea – zu gewinnen und an das internationale Humboldt-Netzwerk heranzuführen? Korea is one of Germany’s leading partners in Asia. The importance of research and development in Korea is demonstrated, amongst others, by continually growing expenditure which, in terms of GDP, exceeds the OECD average. The country’s academic potential is greater than the number of researchers sponsored by the Humboldt Foundation would lead one to believe. Korea is, therefore, one of the Humboldt Foundation’s special focus countries. The Foundation wishes to recruit larger numbers of qualified junior researchers from Korea, particularly those whose subjects are less frequently represented, taking special account of top institutions from which the Foundation has only received a few applications to date. The Humboldt Colloquium in Seoul is designed both to foster contacts in the Alumni Network and to recruit new members. It provides the academics taking part with a platform to present their own research topic to a wide audience during interdisciplinary working groups and thus to generate ideas for specialist and interdisciplinary networking. At a dedicated session, selected junior researchers will present their posters. The aim is to introduce them into the Humboldt Network and recruit them for a research stay in Germany. Humboldtians will report on their experiences in Germany and advise the junior researchers. At a closing panel discussion, the opportunities and challenges of new academic alliances between excellent German and Korean research personalities of different disciplines and generations are scheduled to be discussed in the context of the particular role of the Korean Humboldt Network and the Humboldt Foundation. The focus will be placed on the following questions: What specific role does the Humboldt Network play in German-Korean cooperation? What are the particular opportunities and challenges for German-Korean research collaborations? How can interdisciplinary, transnational, cross-generational research collaborations be promoted further and what part could the Humboldt Foundation play in this? What are the challenges involved in recruiting junior researchers for a research stay in the respective other country – Germany and Korea – and introducing them into the international Humboldt Network? 5 Freitag, 27.
