On our own account: some remarks concerning our members.
Of course, you only need the SNUDEBILLER CD-ROM if you have no access to the internet.
But as a matter of course, you receive the SNUDEBILLER CD as usual at the end of the
year! The CD-ROM edition and its delivery are primarily focused on libraries and archives for
data archiving and durable long term storage. You should be aware that - as a private person
- it is better and more effective to visit our website www.curci.de, when you want to study all
250 contribution of the last 16 years. Here, you will be better served! But the most important
instrument is our search field “Search complete site“ (top right). When you have entered your
search term here, you will be forwarded to the relevant articles into the
SNUDEBILLERarchives, the formerly WeevilNews Journal, the SNUDEBILLERpictures
and into much more fields of the very comprehensive and detailed homepage, which is
exclusively reserved to our members, who have paid their membership fees for the current
year. And they should do it at the beginning of the year, because only in this case they will be
activated (unlocked) and can directly access – with their individual access data and code
(password) - to all pages of our website.
Lately, we have been faced with a small number of members, who have re-installed their PCs
or installed a new system software, and have lost their email access data and their code,
which we have already sent in early 2013. They wondered and were surprised that they could
no longer be able to call up their site. In such cases, we send again the access data, but
therefore we kindly ask to keep and store well the access data and strictly avoid to pass
these data to third parties. - After that you can easily access to your website without a new
registration if you enter ‘Entomologists’, [Your Name], ‘Settings’ and ‘Autologin’ (please
make a tick here). Here you can also keep your self-performance and your list of literature up
to date.
A final request: many journal editors have already significantly reduced their open access
offers over the last few years. Therefore we are in a special extent also dependent on your
membership fee at the beginning of the year, if we should maintain our range of articles for
free and with a wide dissemination. This is quite according to our authors and readers!
However, if the economic constraints are too strong, both the dissemination of our results
and the solidarity among the weevilogists could be lost. You can prevent this by a timely
transfer of our relatively modest annual fee (compared to other magazine subscriptions).

Die SNUDEBILLER CD ROM benötigen Sie selbstverständlich nur, wenn sie keinen Zugang
zum Internet haben. Aber Sie erhalten natürlich wie gewohnt die SNUDEBILLER CD wie
immer am Ende eines Jahres! Sie wird darüber hinaus in erster Linie an Bibliotheken und
Archive
zur
ständigen
Aufbewahrung
und
‚Weiterverarbeitung‘
zwecks
Langzeitkonservierung geschickt. Als Privatperson sollten Sie stets über unsere Internetseite
www.curci.de auf alle 250 Beiträge der letzten 16 Jahre zugreifen. Dort werden Sie weitaus
besser bedient! Das Wichtigste: Geben Sie stets zunächst ihren Suchbegriff in „Search
complete site“ (oben rechts) ein. In diesem Suchfeld werden Sie umgehend weitergeleitet in
die
SNUDEBILLER-Artikel,
das
ehemalige
WeevilNews
Journal,
die
SNUDEBILLERpictures und viele andere Bereiche der sehr umfassenden Homepage, die
nur den Mitgliedern des CURCULIO Instituts offenstehen, die bereits ihren Jahresbeitrag
(möglichst natürlich Anfang des Jahres!) bezahlt haben. Sie werden von uns ‘automatisch‘
erst dann freigeschaltet (und können ‘Zugangs-E-Mail & Password‘ erfolgreich benutzen),
wenn dieser Jahresbeitrag auf unserem CURCI-Konto eingegangen ist.
In letzter Zeit wurden wir nach der Neuinstallation von PC und Betriebssystem gelegentlich
damit konfrontiert, dass ‘Zugangs-E-Mail & Password‘ verloren gegangen waren, sodass
es nicht mehr möglich war, über „MyCurci“ auf die eigene Seite zu gelangen, obwohl der
Jahresmitgliedsbeitrag längst bezahlt war. In solchen Fällen helfen wir weiter und
verschicken auch ein zweites Mal ‘Zugangs-E-Mail & Password‘ (was ja bereits Anfang 2013
erfolgte). - Aber bitte beachten Sie, dass Sie beides gut aufbewahren und niemals an
Dritte weiterreichen sollten! - Über „Entomologists“, [Ihren Namen], „Settings“ und
„Autologin“ (bitte setzen Sie hier einen Haken!) können Sie dann stets problemlos immer
wieder direkt auf Ihre Seite zugreifen. Hier können Sie auch Ihre Literaturliste auf dem
Laufenden halten und Ihre Selbstdarstellung aktualisieren.
Eine letzte Bitte: Viele Zeitschriften haben ihr open access-Angebot in den letzten Jahren
erheblich reduziert. Auch wir sind auf ihre Mitgliedsbeiträge am Anfang eines Jahres
angewiesen, um das große Angebot an kostenlosen Artikeln mit einer sehr großen
Verbreitung aufrechtzuerhalten. Das ist im Sinne der Autoren und der Leser! Werden jedoch
die ökonomischen Zwänge zu groß, bleibt nicht nur die weite Verbreitung der Ergebnisse
unserer Arbeit auf der Strecke, dann leidet auch die Solidarität der Rüsselkäferkollegen
untereinander. Mit unserem relativ niedrigen Jahresbeitrag können Sie beides erfolgreich
