Der Type Directors Club (TDC) ist eine internationale Vereinigung, mit Sitz in New York, die sich der Förderung der Typografie in allen ihren Formen
widmet. Die Organisation entstand 1946, aus einem informellen Treffen von New Yorker Agenturtypografen.
Die Vereinigung verfolgt seit ihrer Gründung das Ziel, die Qualität der typografischen Gestaltung zu fördern. In der Präambel der
Satzung heißt es dazu: „Das Niveau der Typografie und der damit verwandten grafischen Künste heben sowie Anregungen zu
schaffen, Forschung zu betreiben, Bildung zu fördern und Informationen zu verbreiten, die sich auf die typografischen Künste
beziehen. Diese Ziele sollen durch vielfältige, vom Vorstand als zweckmäßig angesehene Aktivitäten erreicht werden, unter anderem
ein jährlicher Typografie-Wettbewerb, Vorträge, Seminare, Publikationen und die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Organisationen, die
ähnliche Ziele und Zwecke verfolgen.“ Seit 1983 existiert ein deutsches Komitee mit Sitz in Mainz. Es trägt den offiziellen Titel
German Liaison Committee of the Type Directors Club of New York.

Rahmenprogramms des translations 02 Symposiums: Fernweh. Positionen der Identität im Design.
Das Projekt entstand als Stegreif im Kurs Typografie (Amalia Schmidt, Viktoria Maul, Jennifer Lippoth, Sarah Wilbois, Dina Fluck, Stephan Günther, Christoph
