RAUMINSZENIERUNG & DESIGN ABOUT In 2012, Marie Träger and Larissa Prinz, both graduated communication designers, founded the design office PRINZTRÄGER. Located in the emerging Ruhr-Area of Germany, the team’s expertise ranges from temporary indoor and outdoor design for trade fairs, pop-up stores, exhibitions and interventions, to permanent interior design, corporate identity concepts, and stage architecture. By using their shared love of innovative materials and three dimensional forms, PRINZTRÄGER create unique experiences for any object or space. Collaborations with other designers and architectural experts add to the productive development and the creative outcome of the ventures. The office provides concept, planning and implementation of projects in the cultural as well as in the brand and theme world. Portfolio PRINZTRÄGER Bang Bang Burgers and Beer INTERIOR DESIGN Bang Bang Burgers and Beer, located in the city of Gelsenkirchen, combines urban flair with individuality and novel details. High concrete ceilings and polished dark-grey walls, together with a generous window front and custom wooden furniture create an industrial charm and a cozy atmosphere. The long communal table with variable chairs forms the centre of the meet-and-eat area. The spacious room is used to full capacity by offering additional seating on the window benches appareled with comfortable cushions. Handcrafted details on the tables, and lighting fixtures of factory and clip lamps attached to wooden slats imbue the interior with a stylish yet welcoming ambience as the place transitions from eatery to bar as the day wears on. A diverse program of music, readings, design markets and many more was to be explored at the temporary creative space. A place in the city where after work meets urban flair, where summer breeze meets city lights - a place where days never seem to end - was set out to be created. Old carpets placed on wooden palettes and in transformed shipping containers, power poles connected with fairy lights and a colourful variety of small details refer to an evening market’s atmosphere of endless summers. Once a month, 250 square meters of transparent PVC lamellae on a structural frame transform the church’s nave to an intimate concert room. How to encounter great gestures when you are caught right in the middle of one? Instead of masking the church’s interior, this square concert space emphasises its abstract-cubist nature by contrasting ordinary materials with extraordinary sacral architecture. One important part of public relations is the Althoff-Box, a movable museum built in a container. The box communicates the biography of the visionary Friedrich Althoff in an informative and emotionally appealing way, and traces the legacy he left in the city. The mobile exhibition was set up in different locations such as public places, school courts and venues. The project was developed in cooperation with the design office Bande - Für Gestaltung! Dozens of neon Persian rugs, all uniquely handmade, guide the audience from public places to the venues. An ironic homage to the red carpet. Hundreds of colourful grid cubes are used to showcase flyers, info material and exhibits of the shops and restaurants in an original way. The transformability of the cubes not only refers to the productive spirit of the community, it also allows for a variety of indoor and outdoor applications: The temporary design, equipped with magnets, clamps and shelves, can be easily transformed from a sales display into a cocktail bar, a flashy chair, or a planter.
