Biografie – Liang Li, Bass After his debut in Europe at Teatro San Carlo in Napoli as Fasolt/"Das Rheingold" in 1998, Liang Li has become a most sought-after singer for both opera and concert with performances at all important international companies and festivals. Liang LI sings all main roles of his Fach, which includes German as well as Italian and French repertoire. He has got a regular collaboration with conductors like Mariss Jansons, Zubin Mehta, Sir Simon Rattle, Myung-Whun Chung, Donald Runnicles, Tomás Netopil, Silvain Cambreling, Jonathan Nott, Manfred Honeck, just to name a few. The seaon 2015/16 includes e.g. his debut at the Ópera de Oviedo in a new production of "Die Walküre"/'Hunding' (Guillermo García Calvo; Michal Znaniecki), his return to the Festival Baden-Baden, where he will present the same role under the baton of Jonathan Nott, his return to the Opéra de Paris, Bastille for a new prodution of "Il Trovatore"/'Ferrando' (Daniele Rustioni; Alex Ollé), "Nabucco"/Zaccharia at the Deutsche Oper Berlin, "Macbeth"/Banco at the Semperoper Dresden, a concert-tour with NCPA Bejing in Italy, "Parsifal"/'Gurnemanz' at the Opera Cologne as well as several repertoire-performances like "Tristan und Isolde"/Marke and "Rigoletto"/'Sparafucile' at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, where Liang Li has been a principal as of the season 2006/07. The season 2014/15 included his highly-acclaimed debut at the Opéra de Paris Bastille with "Don Giovanni"/Commendatore (Alain Altinoglu), a new production of "Rigoletto"/Sparafucile (Silvain Cambreling; Jossie Wieler/Sergio Morabito) at the Staatstheater Stuttgart, performances of "Der Fliegende Holländer"/Daland in Caen and Luxembourg (Francois-Xavier Roth) as well as concerts with Stabat Mater (Dvorak) with the Bavarian Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Mariss Jansons in Munich and Lucerne. He sang Stabat Mater (Rossini) both at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia (Nicola Luisotti) and at the Palace of the Arts in Budapest (Carlo Montanaro) and Mahler VIII with the Tokyo Symphony Orchestra at Kawasaki (Jonathan Nott). The seasons before led Liang Li to Tokyo with his role-debut as 'Hunding' in a concert-version of "Die Walküre" with the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Ingo Metzmacher, to the Aalto Theater Essen with a new production of "Macbeth"/Banco (David Hermann/Tomás Netopil), to the Palau de les Arts with various concerts e.g. "Messa di Requiem" (Verdi), to the Festival Baden-Baden with a new production of "Manon Lescaut"/Geronte de Ravoir (Richard Eyre/Sir Simon Rattle) with an additional concert version at the Philharmonie Berlin (D: Sir Simon Rattle). Further highlights included his highly acclaimed debut at Carnegie Hall in New York with Mozart-Requiem and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra (Manfred Honeck), various performances at the Deutsche Oper Berlin (Marke/"Tristan and Isolde" and Gurnemanz/"Parsifal"; Donnald Runnicles), at the Sächsische Staatsoper Dresden ("La Juive/Brogny; "Turandot"/Timur), and concerts of Verdi-Requiem at the Philharmonie Essen (Tomás Netopil) and at the Palau de les Arts (Carlo Rizzi). Guest engagements has been leading the artist among others as Arkel/"Pélleas et Mélisande" to the Wiener Festwochen and to the Edinburgh Festival, as König Marke/"Tristan and Isolde" to Montpellier, as Bartolo/"Le Nozze di Figaro" and Colline/"La Bohème" to the New National Theatre in Tokyo and as Sarastro/"Die Zauberflöte" to the Hallenstadion in Zurich. Various concert-engagements have been leading the artist to distinguished festival and concert-stages, where he has been featuring his wide-spread repertoire. Liang Li was born in China and studied voice in Tianjin and in Peking. He won numerous prizes at International Voice Competitions, e.g. the International ARD Music Competition in Munich, „Neue Stimmen" of the Bertelsmann Stiftung and the International Opera-Competition in Shizuoka in Japan.
