Il Monte Piana o Monte Piano costituisce una delle più attraenti mete delle
Dolomiti grazie a uno spettacolare panorama a 360 gradi verso le più belle
cime del comprensorio ed è anche luogo di memoria e di storia delle tragiche
e cruciali vicende del secolo scorso, dove persero la vita più di 14.000 soldati.
Il Museo storico all’aperto della 1a Guerra Mondiale è una delle più importanti
testimonianze delle battaglie combattute tra queste montagne, costituito da
numerose trincee, gallerie, postazioni militari ed altri reperti storici riportati
alla luce e risistemati grazie alla iniziale opera dei volontari “Amici delle Dolomiti” e quella successiva del “Gruppo Volontari Amici del Piana - Elio Scarpa”.
Lungo il percorso è presente una segnaletica a cura dell’Ufficio Parchi Naturali
della Provincia Autonoma di Bolzano - Alto Adige e della Comunità Montana
Centro Cadore.

Accesso
Servizio Navetta
La strada d’accesso di 5 km., ex-militare e ora riservata al servizio navetta,
parte da Misurina a m. 1756 e raggiunge il Rifugio Bosi a m 2205. Lo shuttle la
percorre in 12 minuti circa. Da qui parte il percorso principale su sentiero facile
che conduce alle trincee e ai siti storici del Museo all’aperto della 1a Guerra
Mondiale. La Cima Sud a m. 2325 è raggiungibile dal Rif. Bosi in circa 20 minuti di lieve salita. L’itinerario in quota attraverso l’altopiano dura dalle 2 alle
4 ore. Il percorso extra in cengia è attrezzato con corda ferrata ed è consigliato
solamente ad alpinisti esperti adeguatamente attrezzati.

Der Monte Piana ist einer der eindruckvollsten Berge der Dolomiten, dessen Gipfelplateau mit einer Höhe von 2325m (Nordkuppe Monte Piano 2305m) einen atemberaubenden 360° Panoramablick auf Auronzo di Cadore, Cortina d´Ampezzo,
die Drei Zinnen und den Misurina-See bietet. Der Monte Piana ist auch ein geschichtsträchtiger Gedenkort der tragischen Ereignisse des vergangenen Jahrhunderts. Eine der schlimmsten Kriegsfronten des 1. Weltkrieges hatte hier ihren
Schauplatz, über 14.000 Soldaten mussten auf diesem Hochplateau ihr Leben
lassen. Das sich auf dem Monte Piana befindende Freilichtmuseum des 1. Weltkrieges stellt ein lohnendes Ausflugsziel dar. Es ist ein wichtiges Zeugnis der hier
stattgefundenen Gefechte und besteht aus zahlreichen Lauf- und Schützengräben, Galerien, Truppenstützpunkten und anderer geschichtsträchtiger Fundstücke. Das Freilichtmuseum wurde durch den ehrenamtlichen Verein “Dolomitenfreunde“ errichtet. Für die fortwährende Instandhaltung der Schützengräben usw.
sorgen die Gruppe “Ehrenamtliche Freunde des Monte Piana - Elio Scarpa“ und
die “Monte Piana Stiftung“. Die Beschilderung wird vom Amt für Naturparke der
Autonomen Provinz Bozen - Südtirol und der Comunitá Montana Centro Cadore
instand gehalten.
Monte Piana is one of the most beautiful site to visit in the Dolomites, with its
spectacular 360 degrees view towards the most famous mountains of the
Dolomites. Monte Piana is also a site of memory and history of the World War
fought in this area. Here more then 14.000 soldiers died. Nowaday it’s an engaging destination for whom that wants to visit the Open Air Museum of the
First World War, one of the most important witness of the war on the Alps. The
museum consists of trench warfares, tunnels and emplacements located on
the top of the mountain. The open air museum was realized thanks to the work
of the groups “Friends of the Dolomites”, and “Friends of Piana - Elio Scarpa
Volunteers Group”. The Natural Parks Office of the South Tyrol Province and
the Comunità Montana Centro Cadore placed the system of identifyng signs
in the site.

Das Freilichtmuseum Monte Piana ist über einen Shuttle-Service erreichbar. Die
etwa viertelstündige Fahrt beginnt in Misurina (Gemeinde Auronzo di Cadore) 1756 m Höhe - und führt bis zur Bosi-Hütte - 2205 m Höhe - kurz unterhalb des
Gipfelplateaus. Die eindrucksvolle Militärstraße des 1.Weltkriegs überwindet auf
5 km Länge 565 Höhenmeter und ist für den öffentlichen Verkehr - wie auch für
Mountain Biker - gesperrt. Ab der Bosi-Hütte beginnt der Rundweg des Freilichtmuseums, der über den Gipfelbereich des Monte Piana zu den verschiedenen Stellungen des 1. Weltkriegs führt. Die gesamte Begehung des Hochplateaus dauert
zwischen 2 und 4 Stunden. Der Steig des Freilichtmuseums ist ausgesetzt und
teilweise mit Seilsicherungen versehen. Nur für geübte Wanderer.

Shuttle Service
Monte Piana is reached by the ex-military road, reserved to the shuttle service,
that goes from the Lake of Misurina - alt.1756 m. / 5761 ft. - up to the Bosi
Refuge - alt. 2205 m./ 7234 ft. The Shuttle allows to reach the refuge in 12
minutes (5 km.). From the Bosi Refuge starts the main tour on easy path to the
Open Air Museum of the First World War. About 20 minutes are needed to reach
the South-west summit at 2325 m./7628 ft. of altitude. The complete tour last
about from 2 up to 4 hours. The extra-tour on the ledge “via ferrata” is recommended only to experienced mountain climbers.
