Zur Gründungszeit der Fachzeitschrift
DRAHT kam die Branche mächtig in Be
wegung. Es waren die 1950er Jahre. Der
Werkstoff Draht wurde dringend benötigt.
Gleichzeitig schaffte die Industrie den
Sprung von der Mechanik zur Elektro
mechanik. In dieser Zeit verlegte auch die
Maschinenfabrik Koch in HemerIhmert
ihren Schwerpunkt von der Wartung auf
die Herstellung von Drahtmaschinen. Die
Söhne von Ernst Koch, der das Unternehmen
1921 gegründet hatte, brachten innovative
Durchdachte Systeme: Kaltwalz- und Reckanlagen mit automatischer Coilentsorgung.
Nassziehmaschinen,
VerzinkereiWickel
werke, Drahtricht und Abschneidemaschi
nen auf den Markt. Abnehmer gab es reich
lich. In Wirtschaftswunderzeiten wurde die
Welt mobiler und benötigte Draht für Autos
und Bahnfahrwerke. Die boomende Bauin
dustrie setzte gewalzten Stahldraht in Häu
sern, Brücken und Tunneln ein. Drähte, die
auf KochMaschinen produziert wurden,
reichten schon damals in jeden Winkel
des Lebens – von Möbeln und Elektrokabeln
bis tief hinein in den Haushalt. Noch Ende
der 60er Jahre war Koch Hauptlieferant
der westdeutschen Wäscheklammerfabriken.
„Eigener Maschinenbau, gewachsenes Know
how und die Nähe zu Kunden in der Draht
industrie“: so fasst Jochen Koch, Geschäfts
führer des Unternehmens, die Voraus
setzungen für Innovationskraft zusammen,
mit der die KochIngenieure in den 1980er
Jahren ans Werk gingen. Sie entwickelten
Systeme, die bis heute Maßstäbe setzen, etwa
die ZiehscheibenKammerkühlung, die Tast
rollenregelung und das „OTA“Ziehverfahren.

DRAHT and WIRE are journalistic specialised magazines published in German and
English respectively. They are not only published in a printed edition but also on the
internet under www.draht-magazin.de and as part of the information platform
www.umformtechnik.net as well as www.wire-magazine.de. The print edition is
complemented by newsletters. Compact and easily readable original contributions
from the industry and the world of science shed light on state-of-the-art trends,
techniques and technologies in the spring, wire and cable industry. News from
specialised associations on developments in the sector and within companies is
clearly structured. Reports on products needed in the production of wire and cable
and on the industry itself are clearly set out and quickly accessible. DRAHT and
WIRE report concisely. Information is denser than in comparable publications. We
are committed to the benefit of our readers. More extensive research can be found
as white paper on our website www.umformtechnik.net/whitepaper/.
MESH AND ARMOUR
Wire and rebar processing
Eurobend offers a wide range of equipment, such as two and three dimensional wire+rebar benders, single
line and multi-line straightening and cutting machines, wire+rebar mesh welding lines and product welding
machinery, continuous stirrup and spiral reinforcement machines.
High-quality of components and final product, competitive prices, along with significant after-sales service belong to the major
assets of Eurobend. Exports comprise 98%
of the company’s turnover and contribute to
the dynamic growth of the company. This
success is due to the combination of quality
and flexibility the machines ensure. The development of innovative and unique products as well as technical expertise is a continuous process and was always part of their
long-term strategy to brand Eurobend as a
leading company in the international arena.
Their unique advantages are exquisitely
combined with highly responsive after service support, making their equipment a perfect choice for the small, mid-size and large
wire or rebar fabricators. Eurobend operates
through a new “state of the art” production
facility and headquarter offices which are
located throughout the world – like Brazil,
USA, France, Russia – and service centres in
Brazil, France, Athens/Greece, and Moscow/
Russia.
The rotor straightening method
Among their wire+rebar processing equipment lines, a complete range of high-output
programmable wire+rebar straightening
and cutting machines for coiled wire+rebar
is offered – type “Melc” – designed for
heavy duty continuous operation within
the wire and concrete reinforcing industries. The straightening method based on
the rotor straightening principle using
hyperbolic profiled rollers was invented
and introduced by Eurobend engineers in
the early eighties, setting new industrial
standards for the wire+rebar producing and
processing industries and leading the way
to other machine manufacturers. All of
the conventional straightening and cutting
machines operatebasicly on two different
principles.
Key data for “Melc” straightening and cutting machines.
36
WIRE 3/2015
Hyperbolic roller
straightening machine „Melc
30 AT“ with patented anti-twist rollers.
As there are:
a) two-plane roller configuration,
at 90 degree to each other and
b) conventional rotor straightening
with dies.
The advantages and disadvantages of the
systems are known, mainly the first does not
produce quality straightness and damages
the rebar surface with extreme pressure on
the rebar, while starting and stopping for
cutting, and the second generates too much
heat, due to friction, that reverses any good
straightness produced at the rotor and damages the rebar surface.
Eurobend’s method is based on the rotor
straightening system, but instead of dies, they
use hyperbolically profiled cylinders, made
from coated steel. The cylinders execute the
two fundamental operations of straightening
and feeding simultaneously. This is achieved
by positioning the cylinders at an angle to the
wire or rebar and rotating them round the
wire or rebar axis, so at the same time accomplish feeding and straightening. The placement of the rollers at an angle to the wire or
rebar axis, results in line contact with the wire
or rebar surface and not point contact as in
conventional rotors. Also, when the machine’s
rotor is spinning and the rollers are feeding
the wire or rebar through, there is no sliding
friction – only rolling friction – thus the wire
or the rebar surface as well is not damaged.
The company’s straightening method ensures
a better straightening quality and consistency,
which is something that hardly can be be
found in competitive methods, since continuous wear of the dies, or the conventional
rollers, can’t be avoided.
The “Melc” straightening and cutting machines have a number of advantages.
1. Machine downtime is minimized, since
continuous adjustment of the straightening mechanism is not needed.
2. Straightening of high tensile steel
up to 1800N/mm² has been achieved without the implementation of additional
apparatus.
3. Mechanical simplicity of machine construction, due to the simultaneous feeding and straightening, results in a machine with stable, constant and continuous operation.
4. Cutting workpieces of the required length
is achieved with flying shear cutter, whiles
the wire, or rebar, is moving, without
having to start and stop, or to slow down
the speed of the wire or the rebar, in order
to cut.
5. The simplicity of the design allows the
construction of multi-line machines (up
to six Rotors) depending on the productivity requirements and the diameter
ranges of each customer. Each line works
independent from the others and any
combination or all of them can work together. Each has a dedicated collector bin
and can cut the same respectively different lengths.
6. By designing the right hyperbolic profile
(curvature) of the roller, combined with
the proper surface treatment of the roller
and more rarely the proper coating, we
can achieve the desired surface finish on
the straightened rebar surface.
7. The different rotor sizes available cover
the diameter range from 2mm up to
50mm wire, or rebar, or Stainless Steel
and Inox grades.
8. With multi-rotor configuration machines
continuous production speeds of up to
500m/min have been achieved.
Fourth generation rotor
Depending on the core business of the customer – wire/rebar producer, wire components fabricator, trader, service centre, prefabricator, mesh producers and so on – the
required output and the preferred method
of material handling there are different
types of Melc straightening and cutting machines available, using Eurobend’s latest development, the fourth generation rotor.
“Melc Monoline” Series are single line
straightening and cutting machines, capable
of achieving speeds of up to 120m/min. The
speed is adjusted by Frequency inverter controls, thus the machine adapts the output to
the required productivity needs, where at the
same time parts life cycle maximised and
downtime minimised. There are special application modules available, for rebar twist control and surface finish control (patented) making the Melc Monoline series ideal also for
high tensile and stainless steel straightening.
“Melc Flexiline” series are solutions for prefabricators: multirotor, single line automatic
rebar straightening and cutting machines,
processing up to six interchangeable coils.
The straightening and cutting machines are
available in various multi-rotor configura-

MEDIA KIT 2016 –
General Terms and Conditions for ads
and inserts in newspapers and magazines
1. In the following General Terms, «advertisement order» refers to the contract on the publication
of one or several advertisements of an advertiser or others in a printed paper for the purposes of
circulation.
2. Advertisement orders, unless expressly placed for a longer period, must be carried out within one
year beginning with the signing of the contract. Only written agreements or written confirmations
from the publishers are valid.
3. If the advertiser augments his advertisement order or adds another order to it in such a way as to
in-crease the number of advertisements, appearing within the one- or two-year period, the probably
higher discount will also be granted for already printed advertisements.
4. If an order is unfulfilled through no fault of the publishers, the advertiser must return to the
publisher the difference between the granted discount and that corresponding to the actual
execution of the order, irrespective of any eventual legal duties. The repayment ceases, if the
unfulfilment is based on the force majeure in the risk area of the publishers.
5. Advertisements, which owing to their presentation cannot be recognised as such, will be marked
with the word «Advertisement» by the publishers.
6. The publishers have the right to refuse advertisement orders - including single terms within a
contract - and insert orders, by reason of their contents, origin or their technical form, according to
the uniform and technically justifiable principles of the publishers, when their content infringes laws
or official regulations or when their publication is unfavourable for the publisher.
In addition, bound or loose insert orders are only binding after a sample of the bound or loose insert
has been submitted and met the approval of the publishers. Inserts, whose form or presentation give
the reader the impression that they are part of the newspaper or magazine or which contain foreign
advertisements, cannot be accepted.
The advertiser will be informed immediately if his order is refused.
7. The advertiser himself is responsible for the content and the legitimacy of text and pictures
submitted for the advertisement. Furthermore, it is the duty of the advertiser to exempt the
publisher from claims of a third party, even when it should be inhibited, which might arise against
the publishers as a result of the execution of the order.
8. The advertiser is responsible for submitting the advertisement text and the unobjectionable printing
material or inserts on time. The publisher damand immediate replacement of obviously unsuitable or
damaged printing material.
The publisher guarantee the usual printing quality for the text submitted, in as far as the possibilities
of the printing material allow.
9. In the case of the completely or partly illegible, incorrect, or incomplete printing of the
advertisement, the advertiser is entitled to a price reduction or to a replacement advertisement,
however, only in as far as the purpose of the original advertisement was impaired. If the publishers
allow the reasonable period for this to expire or if the replacement advertisement is again
objectonable, the advertiser has the right to a price reduction or a cancellation of the order.
Liability caused by unfulfillment, negligence on singing the contract an unlawful acts are out of
the question also with advertising orders placed by telephone. Extent of liability caused by inablility
to carry out the order or delay are limited to replacement of the foreseeable damages and the
indemnification of the relevant advertisement or insert costs. This is not the case for malice and
gross negligence of the publishers, their legal representatives and intermediate assistents. The
publishers`extent of liablility for damages due to failure to provide warranted quality remains
uneffected.
www.draht-magazin.de www.wire-magazine.de
As per: 29. February 2016
In commercial business transactions, the publisher are not liable for the gross negligence of
intermediate assistants; in remaining cases, the extent of liability for gross negligence towards
tradesmen is limited to the foreseeable damages up to the corresponding costs. Complaints - except
for not obvious faults - must be forwarded within four weeks after receipt of invoice and voucher.
10. The advertiser himself is responsible for typographical errors if the publisher sents him a proof and if
he failed to correct the mistake or to return the proof in time.
11. For payment of the advertisement invoice within 8 days after date of invoice a 2% discount is
granted, payment after 30 days is net. In case of delay or postponement of payment, the advertiser
is charged with default interest amounting to 3% above the rate of discount of the Deutsche
Bundesbank and with the collection costs. The publisher may also discontinue the execution of the
order until the advertisements already published have been paid for, and may demand advance
payment for the remaining a dvertisements.
In the case of justifiable doubts in the advertiser´s ability to pay, the publisher are entitled to make
the publication of further advertisements dependant on the advance payment of the amount and
on the settlement of outstanding invoices, even within the duration of an advertising contract and
regardless of an originally agreed upon term of payment.
12. Where the print-run has been reduced, it is possible to claim a partial reduction in price where
several adverts have been booked in advance and where the average distributed print-run quoted
either on the rate card or elsewhere is higher than the overall average print-run for the year,
starting with the appearance of the first advert. A reduction in the print-run is deemed unjustifiable
where it has been reduced by 20% or more for a print-run of up to 50000 copies. The percentage
total of the price reduction is calculated in direct relation to the fall in the overall print-run.
13. Advertisement rates do not include costs for graphic work, or for the preparation of photos or
digital data. If such work is necessary for the execution of an advertising order it will be charged
extra. Also, considerable changes in original order can be brought to the account of the advertiser.
14. At the advertiser´s request, the publisher will give evidence of the circulation of the magazine for
which advertisements have been placed.
15. In box number advertisements the publisher employs the care of a prudent businessman for the
custody and punctual transmission of the offer. Registered letters and express letters concerning box
number advertisements will be forwarded by normal post only.
16. Enclosures accompanying offers and applications forwarded to the advertiser in reply to a box
number advertisement remain the property of the sender and must be returned to him.
17. Printing material, which the advertiser does not expressly demand to be returned to him, is kept by
the publisher for two years, however, the publisher cannot be held reponsible for any damage or loss
caused by force majeure.
18. Place of payment and place of jurisdiction, in as far as the law does not forcibly prescribe otherwise,
is Bamberg.
Even if the residence or usual domicile of the advertiser is unknown at the time of the endorsement
of a claim, or if the advertiser moves out of the area covered by the law, after the conclusion of the
contract, Bamberg remains the place of jurisdicton.
19. The advertising mediators and agencies are obliged to respect the rate card of the publishers, in their
offers, contracts and accounts with advertisers. The agency commission granted by the publishers
may be forwarded neither in part nor in full, neither directly nor indirectly to the advertiser.
20. Should one of the preceding stipulations be without legal force, the validity of those remaining is
not affected.
