Das einzige BGV C1-Nebelsystem
Zwar ist es durchaus möglich, ein Nebelgerät alleine auf seine
Sicherheit als Elektrogerät prüfen zu lassen. Auch stellen verschiedene Prüflabore Unbedenklichkeitsbescheinigungen für
(unverdampfte) Nebelfluide aus.
Beides geschah bisher jedoch völlig unabhängig voneinander
und sagte zudem überhaupt nichts über das eigentliche Endprodukt, nämlich den Nebel bzw. Dunst, aus.
Im Rahmen der Zertifizierung wurden in der Prüfstelle der
Verwaltungs-BG nicht nur die Nebelgeräte ausführlichst unter
die Lupe genommen. Auch die Produktion und Qualitätssicherung der Fluide wurden geprüft, und nicht zuletzt wurden
Geräte und Fluide unter realistischen Vernebelungsbedingungen eingesetzt und anschließend zahlreiche Raumluftproben genommen. Diese Proben wurden wiederum durch die
Verwaltungs-BG ausführlich auf Schadstoffe untersucht.
Ergebnis: Die geprüften Nebelsysteme (3 Smoke FactoryMaschinen und 5 Smoke Factory Nebelfluide in beliebigen
Kombinationen) können ruhigen Gewissens eingesetzt werden.

GESCHICHTE
FOG AND HAZE GENERATORS
Die Geschichte: Nach gut 20-jähriger Tätigkeit im Bühnen-,
Film-, Fernseh- und Special Effects-Bereich gründet Florian
von Hofen 1990 die Smoke Factory – damals hauptsächlich
aus Ärger über die miserable Qualität vieler am Markt befindlicher Nebelmaschinen. Schritt für Schritt entsteht das
Pflichtenheft für das erste Smoke Factory-Produkt: Die
Enterprise TC 2 soll ein Gerät sein, das sich stressfrei transportieren sowie einfach ansteuern und bedienen lässt.
Auf der prolight+sound 1990 wird die Enterprise TC 2 („TC“
stand für „Tele Command“, da sich das Gerät auch per Funk
ansteuern ließ) das erste Mal gezeigt und „nebelt“ sich in die
Herzen der Profis.
In den Folgejahren wird ein Netz von Vertriebspartnern aufgebaut und gleichzeitig immer neue Produkte entwickelt – oft
auch auf Anregung von Kunden. So entstehen z.B. die batteriebetriebene SCOTTY oder die Nebel-/WindmaschinenKombination FAN FOGGER, der MR. MISTER als erster ölfreier Hazer und der TOUR HAZER als heutige Standardausstattung bei jedem Live-Event.

SMOKE FACTORY-Geräte sind eine Anschaffung fürs

First BGV C1 safety-tested fog system
For the first time a complete fog system has been safetytested and BGV C1-approved by the authorities. The VBG
(Institution for Statutory Accident Insurance and Prevention)
has tested the fog machines, the fluid and, finally, the result of
the fogging process: the fog itself.
Fogging tests have been undertaken under realistic circumstances with samples of the air taken and investigated in the
laboratories. Result: both the tested Smoke Factory foggers
and four different fog fluids can be used safely and with no
danger to health, and this is documented and proved by the
‘BGV C1 tested safety’ logo of the VBG.
Theatres, TV-stations and rental companies can now show
their actors, audiences and clients that the fog system they
use is safe and not dangerous to health. We are proud to have
proof that will help our clients in many situations. We all know
that many people have prejudices regarding the use of fog,
but as professionals we also know that there is no light show,
no moving light or laser effect without fog or haze. The reputation of the BGV C 1-certificate is highly regarded around the

HISTORY
FOG AND HAZE GENERATORS
History: With a background of 20 years experience in the
area of stage, film, TV and special effects, Florian von Hofen
founds the SMOKE FACTORY in 1990 – mainly driven from
dissatisfaction about the poor quality of most existing fog
machines at that time. The first SMOKE FACTORY-product,
the ENTERPRISE TC 2, is being developed, a unit, which can
be transported and taken on tour, can easily be controlled
and operated.
During Prolight + Sound 1990 the ENTERPRISE TC 2 („TC 2“
stands for „TeleCommand“, because the machine introduced
a wireless remote control as well) is presented to the public
for the first time – and immediately becomes state-of-the-art
for the rental industry.
During the following years a distribution network is being built
up and, in parallel, new machines are being developed continously, often following suggestions from clients: The batteryoperated SCOTTY, the fog-/windmachine-combination FAN
FOGGER, MR. MISTER as first oil-free Hazer and TOURHAZER as today’s standard Hazer on all kinds of concerts
and events.

Our attitude maybe conservative, but we love to manufacture reliable „sloggers“. A taxi driver will buy a particular car (i.e. a Mercedes Diesel) because he wants to
make money and a lot of kilometers for many, many
