avec le jury d’oral
d’Euro toute langue
confondue.

Of Mice and Men is a 1992 drama film based on John
Steinbeck's novella of the same name. Directed and
produced by Gary Sinise, the film features Sinise as George
Milton alongside John Malkovich as Lennie Small. The plot
centers on George and the mentally disabled Lennie. The
two migrant field workers in California on a plantation
during the Great Depression—George Milton, an intelligent
but uneducated man, and Lennie Small, a man of large
stature and great strength but limited mental abilities—are
in Soledad on their way to another part of California. They
hope to one day attain their shared dream of settling down
on their own piece of land. Lennie's part of the dream is
merely to tend to (and touch) soft rabbits on the farm, as
he loves touching soft animals, although he always kills
them. This dream is one of Lennie's favorite stories, which
George constantly retells. The film explores themes of
discrimination, loneliness, and the American Dream. The
theme of friendship is also a constant throughout the story.
Of Mice and Men took part in the 1992 Cannes Film
Festival, where Sinise was nominated for the Palme d'Or award, given to the director of the best-featured film.
After the film debuted in the United States on October 2, 1992, it received positive acclaim from critics.

Gary Alan Sinise (born March 17, 1955) is an American actor, director, and musician. Among other awards, he has
won an Emmy Award, a Golden Globe Award, and has been nominated for an Academy Award. Sinise is known for
several memorable roles which include George Milton in Of Mice and Men, Lt. Dan Taylor in Forrest Gump (for
which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor), Harry S. Truman in Truman (for
which he won a Golden Globe), Ken Mattingly in Apollo 13…
The Main Actor
John Gavin Malkovich (born December 9, 1953) is an American actor and director. He has appeared in more than
70 motion pictures. For many of his roles, he received Academy Award nominations and won quite an amount of
them.
The Inspirational author
John Ernst Steinbeck, Jr. (February 27, 1902 – December 20, 1968) was an American author of twenty-seven
books, including sixteen novels, six non-fiction books, and five collections of short stories. The winner of the 1962
Nobel Prize in Literature, he has been called "a giant of American letters". His works are widely read abroad and
many of them are considered classics of Western literature. Most of Steinbeck's work is set in southern and
central California, particularly in the Salinas Valley and the California Coast Ranges region. His works frequently
explored the themes of fate and injustice, especially as applied to downtrodden or everyman protagonists.

Kalifornien zur Zeit der Weltwirtschaftskrise: Zwei ungleiche Freunde, der bärenstarke
aber geistig zurückgebliebene Lennie (Malkovich) und der fürsorgliche George (Sinise)
ziehen durchs Land, um sich als Erntehelfer eine paar Dollar zu verdienen. Auf der Suche
nach neuen Jobs verflucht George seinen Gefährten Lennie, bringt es aber nicht übers
Herz, ihn alleine zu lassen. Sie träumen von einer eigenen Farm, und für diesen Traum

John Steinbeck
John Ernst Steinbeck, amerikanischer Erzähler deutsch-irischer
Abstammung, geboren am 27. Februar 1902 in Salinas, wuchs in Kalifornien
auf. 1918-24 Studium der Naturwissenschaften an der Stanford
University, Gelegenheitsarbeiter, danach freier Schriftsteller in Los Gatos bei
Monterey. Im Zweiten Weltkrieg Kriegsberichterstatter, 1962 Nobelpreis für
Literatur, gestorben am 20. Dezember 1968 in New York.

Dos grandes amigos, Lennie (John
Malkovich) y George (Gary Sinise) se
encuentran en paro, en plena era de la
depresión norteamericana, y con pocas
posibilidades de conseguir trabajo debido al
retraso mental de Lennie. Cuando son
contratados en el Rancho Tyler ven como su
vida progresa a pesar de la estricta
supervisión de Curley (Casey Siemaszko), el
desagradable hijo del jefe. Pero su mundo se
tambalea cuando la insatisfecha esposa de
Curley (Sherilyn Fenn) se convierte en
víctima inocente de la compasión de Lennie,
forzando a George a decidir entre su amistad
o él mismo.
