The Institute of Experimental Gene Therapy and Cancer Research, located at the University of
Rostock, is an internationally renowned institution delivering field-changing mechanistic insights
into metastatic cancer and cellular reprogramming technologies. The Unit is equipped with state-ofthe-art facilities and offers excellent opportunities for doctoral theses and postdoctoral
development.
We are looking to appoint a PhD student or postdoctoral scientist to work on tumor progression
signaling with a particular focus on the E2F and p73 family of transcription factors. The project will
concentrate on high throughput genomics to identify the main alterations in the regulatory networks
associated to E2F1 and p73 family-dependent metastasis, stemness and chemoresistance
phenotypes, as well as the development of individualized anti-metastatic drugs to target molecular
dysfunction.
The successful candidate will possess a Master or PhD in a relevant discipline and have
experience of working with protein and RNA analysis, mammalian cell culture, transient & stable
transfections and immunofluorescence. Students and postdocs with background in animal
research, genome editing technology, or next-generation sequencing are especially encouraged to
apply. Applicants must be committed to working at a highly competitive level, be able to efficiently
communicate scientific ideas and have a proven publication record. Knowledge of German and
English is essential.
The position is funded by third-party for two years with a salary according to TV-UMN. The
