The installation of glue-down LVT requires the most suitable
adhesives in terms of adhesion and dimensional stability; Mapei
LVT adhesives are specifically developed and tested in order to
guarantee the durability of flooring and to prevent joints from
opening when the flooring is exposed to temperature variations,
direct sunlight or heat.

Mit Flexcolor 4 LVT verleihen Sie PVC-Designbelägen eine
persönliche Note. Zum Beispiel lässt sich bei Holzdekoren der
optische Eindruck eines Schiffdecks erzeugen. Außerdem

Flexcolor 4 LVT allows you to add a personal touch
to LVT flooring. For example, it can be used to create
an effect similar to that of a ship’s deck for floors with
a wood design. Alternatively, it can be used to form
joints between individual stone-design tiles. The effects

Selbstliegende PVC-Designbeläge können, im Vergleich zum bisherigen Gebrauch
von PVC-Designbelägen in privaten und gewerblichen Bereichen, auch mehrmals
aufgenommen und neu verlegt werden. Deshalb eignen sie sich ideal für Doppelböden
und Plattformen auf Messen. Die Verlegung ist sehr schnell und auf allen glatten,
staubfreien und festen Untergründen möglich (Zement, Beton, Beschichtungen, Marmor,
Keramik, verklebtes Parkett u. v. m). Um das Verrutschen von Planken und Fliesen oder
die Fugenbildung zu verhindern, empfiehlt sich immer die Verwendung einer geeigneten
Rutschbremse: Nach dem Trocknen bleibt der Film der Spezial-Fixierungen stets klebrig,
sodass selbstliegende Beläge sicher am Untergrund arretiert werden und anschließend
leicht wiederaufgenommen oder ersetzt werden können.

In addition to its standard use in residential and commercial areas,
loose-lay LVT can be removed and repositioned several times, making
it ideal for raised floors and platforms in trade fairs. Installation is
very quick and it may be applied on all types of smooth, compact
surface as long as they are free of dust (cement, concrete, resin
floors, marble, ceramic, bonded wood, metal and so on). In order to
prevent planks and tiles from slipping or joints from opening, the use
of a suitable tackifier is always recommended: when dry, the film
formed by these special adhesives remains tacky so that loose-lay
floors may be held in place and then easily removed and/or replaced.

Rutschbremse speziell für selbstliegende PVCDesignbeläge. Nach dem Trocknen bleibt der
Film der Spezial-Fixierungen stets klebrig, sodass
selbstliegende Beläge sicher am Untergrund arretiert
werden und anschließend leicht wiederaufgenommen
oder ersetzt werden können. Utrabond Eco Tack
4 LVT vermindert nachweislich die Entstehung von
offenen Fugen und ist von daher besonders geeignet zur
Verlegung von selbstliegenden PVC-Designbelägen.
Tackifier specific for loose-lay LVT. When dry, the
film of Ultrabond Eco tack 4 LVT remains tacky
so that loose-lay flooring may be held in place and
then easily removed and/or replaced; this adhesive
has been proven to reduce the opening of gaps
and joints which makes it particularly suitable for
installing loose-lay LVT.

Die Verlegung von selbstklebenden und selbstliegenden Tack-Dry PVCDesignbelägen ist sehr schnell ausgeführt und kann auf allen ebenen, festen
und staubfreien Untergründen erfolgen. Oftmals werden diese Beläge dann
verwendet, wenn die Räumlichkeiten nicht geschlossen werden können, oder
für DIY in Wohnbereichen. Dabei empfiehlt sich immer die Verwendung einer
geeigneten, gebrauchsfertigen, staubbindenden Grundierung auf saugenden,
leicht staubigen Untergründen, oder die Verwendung einer gebrauchsfertigen
Fugenglättmasse auf bestehenden keramischen Fliesenbelägen. Auch für diese
Beläge bietet Mapei spezielle, auf diese Eigenschaften abgestimmte Produkte an.

The installation of self-adhesive and tack-dry loose lay LVT is very
fast and can be made on all surfaces provided they are smooth,
compact and free of dust. Most times these floorings are chosen
for those situations when there is no possibility to close premises
during refurbishments, or also for DIY in residential area. The use of
a suitable ready to use, anti-dust primer onto absorbent substrates,
which tend to be powdery, or a ready to use grout smoother on
existing ceramic tiles flooring is always recommended.
Also for these floorings Mapei provides special products which best
suit to their characteristics.

Die Verlegung von lose verlegbaren PVC-Designbelägen mit Interlocking
oder Klick-Verbindung ist sehr schnell ausgeführt und auf den meisten
bestehenden Untergründen machbar. Die weitere Nutzung der
Räumlichkeiten während der Sanierung spart zudem Zeit und Geld
des Kunden. In Bereichen mit hoher Frequentierung des Belages wie
z.B. in Fluren, Eingangsbereichen, Ausstellungsflächen in Geschäften,
Temperatur- oder sonnenlichtbelasteten Flurbereichen mit Fensterflächen
kann eine Fixierung mit haftstarkem Trockenklebstoff erforderlich sein.

The installation of interlocking and click-connecting loose-lay LVT,
really fast, is possible to be made over most existing surfaces, with
no need to close premises during refurbishments, saving customers
time and money. In areas of the flooring subjected to heavy traffic
such as corridors, entrances, exposition areas in retails or areas of
the flooring exposed to variation of temperature or direct sunlight,
such as near the windows, they may need to be fixed to the substrate
with high-bonding dry adhesives.

die Verlegung stark beanspruchter PVC-Designböden
mit Klick-Verbindung, z. B. in Fluren, Eingängen oder

Wiederaufnehmbares Trittschalldämmsystem für
PVC-Designböden mit Interlocking oder KlickVerbindung. Das System besteht aus einem
Trockenklebstoff mit doppelseitigem Klebefilm und
einer Trittschalldämmunterlage. Die beiden Seiten der
Mapecontact Folie weisen eine sehr große Haftkraft auf,
sodass die Mapesonic CR Trittschalldämmunterlage gut
arretiert ist, auch wenn nur die Fugenbereiche verklebt
werden. Das System schützt Planken und Fliesen vor
Schäden durch Unebenheiten im Untergrund und dient
außerdem als Trittschallschutz.

Fast soundproofing and isolating system for laying
interlocking click-connecting LVT. The system is made
of a double-sided adhesive film and soundproofing
sheets. The two sides of the Mapecontact film have
a very high degree of tack to guarantee a good bond for
the Mapesonic CR soundproofing sheet even though
fixed only in correspondance of the joints.
This system prevents planks and tiles becoming
damaged due to uneven existing subfloors, and also
acts as a shock-absorber when walked on.

Die Prüfung der Dimensionsstabilität ist sehr wichtig und gibt eine klare Aussage
über das Verhalten und die Eignung unterschiedlicher Klebstoffe, die zur Verlegung
von PVC-Designbelägen verwendet werden. In der unteren Grafik sind z. B. die
Ergebnisse des Dimensionsstabilitätstests eines PVC-Designbelages nach EN 434
dargestellt (der Bodenbelag ist zunächst 6 Stunden lang einer Temperatur von
+80°C und dann für 24 Stunden einer Temperatur von +23°C ausgesetzt).
Dimensional stability tests are important and provide a clear understanding
of the behaviour and suitability of different kinds of adhesive for vinyl floor
coverings when used for LVT installation. For example, the graph below
illustrates the results of dimensional stability tests carried out on LVT in
compliance with EN 434 standards (the floor covering is initially exposed for 6
hours to a temperature of +80°C and then for 24 hours to +23°C).
Die Ergebnisse zeigen Ausdehungen von ca. +0,01 % und liegen somit im
Rahmen der Norm (±0,4 %). In allen Fällen misst Mapei die Bewegungen
nach der 6-stündigen Phase bei +80°C. In diesem Beispiel liegt eine
Ausdehnungsrate von bis zu +0,36 % vor – daher neigt der Bodenbelag
dazu, sich bei Hitzeeinwirkung auszudehnen.
The results show movements of around +0.01%, therefore within the limits
of the standards (±0.4%). In all cases, Mapei measures the movements after
exposure for 6 hours to a temperature of +80°C: in this case, this sample
shows an expansion rate of up to +0.36%, therefore the tendency of the floor
covering to move when exposed to heat.

Derselbe PVC-Designbelag wurde mit verschiedenen Klebstofftypen nach
EN 14259 getestet, als Nachweis für die Erreichung der geforderten Normvorgaben.
Insbesondere wurde die Dimensionsstabilität nach EN 1903 geprüft, indem die
Belagsfliesen mit verschiedenen, zur Verlegung von PVC-Belägen empfohlenen
Dispersionsklebstoffen auf einen Untergrund aus Cembonit geklebt wurden. Dabei
zeigt sich, dass der getestete Klebstoff Nr. 3 für diese Art von PVC-Designbelag
ungeeignet ist, da die finalen Ausdehnungen über den nach EN 14259 zulässigen
Höchstwerten von ±0,2 % liegen. Darüber hinaus prüft Mapei in demselben Test
immer die Bewegungen nach Hitzeeinwirkungen, obwohl dies in der Euronorm
nicht spezifiziert ist. Auf diese Weise werden die Unterschiede zwischen den
Klebstoffen ersichtlich, die alle der Euronorm entsprechen. Aus der unteren
Grafik geht deutlich hervor, dass einige Klebstofftypen (z. B. Nr. 3 und Nr. 6) nicht
für den Einsatz bei PVC-Designbelägen zu empfehlen sind, weil sich die Böden
nach Hitzeeinwirkung in hohem Maße bewegen (bis zu +0,185 %). Durch den
Einsatz von Klebstoffen wie ULTRABOND ECO 4 LVT oder ULTRABOND ECO VS90
PLUS, die speziell für PVC-Designbeläge entwickelt wurden, lassen sich solche
Bewegungen aufgrund von Hitzeeinwirkung deutlich reduzieren.

The same LVT has been tested with different types of adhesives in compliance
with EN 14259 standards in order to verify that its performance requirements
are met. In particular, dimensional stability tests, carried out in compliance with
EN 1903 standards - by laying the floor tiles on a substrate made of Cembonit
using different types of adhesive in water dispersion usually recommended
for vinyl floor coverings - show that one of the tested adhesives (No. 3) is
unsuitable for this kind of LVT, since the final movements exceed the maximum
limit (±0.2%) allowed by EN 14259 standards. Moreover, also in this case, even
though not specified by the Euronorm, Mapei always measures the movements
after exposure to high temperatures: this is carried out in order to understand
the differences between the adhesives, which all comply with the Euronorm. It
is quite clear from the graph below that some types of adhesive (for example,
No. 3 and No. 6) are not recommended for LVT because, after the exposition
to high temperatures, the flooring shows large movements (up to +0.185%);
the use of adhesives specifically developed for LVT, such as ULTRABOND ECO
4 LVT or ULTRABOND ECO VS90 PLUS, considerably reduces such movements
and prevents the subsequent aesthetical defects.

Nicht alle Rutschbremsen sind für die Verlegung von selbstliegenden PVC-Designbelägen geeignet.
Einige davon bilden nach dem Trocknen einen so klebrigen und elastischen Film, dass sie nicht in der
Lage sind, die Bewegungen des PVC-Designbelags oder die Fugenbildung zu verhindern.
In den Forschungslaboren von Mapei wurde ein spezielles Verfahren zur Prüfung der Dimensionsstabilität
entwickelt, um die Leistungsfähigkeit einer Rutschbremse zu prüfen. Ziel ist es, die Bewegung von
selbstliegenden PVC-Designbelägen im Hinblick auf die Fugenbildung zu verringern.
Wie in der Grafik unten deutlich wird, sind einige Fixierungen (z. B. Nr. 2 und Nr. 3), die üblicherweise
für die Verlegung von elastischen und textilen SL-Belägen verwendet werden, nicht für den Einsatz
bei PVC-Designbelägen zu empfehlen, da sich die Beläge nach Hitzeeinwirkung in hohem Maße
bewegen (in diesem Fall bis zu +0,7mm). Mit dem Einsatz von Rutschbremsen wie ULTRABOND ECO
TACK 4 LVT, die speziell für PVC-Designbeläge konzipiert wurden, lassen sich solche Bewegungen
aufgrund von Hitzeeinwirkung deutlich reduzieren.
Not all “pressure sensitive” tackifiers are suitable for installing loose-lay LVT: some of them, once dry,
form a final film that is too sticky and elastic, which does not have the capacity to prevent movements
in the LVT or open gaps. Mapei R&D Laboratories have set up a specific dimensional stability test
method to verify the capacity of a tackifier to limit movements in loose-lay LVT in correspondence with
the joints (gap opening).
It is clear from the graph below that some types of tackifier (for example No. 2 and No. 3), commonly
used for installing loose-lay resilient and textile floor coverings, are not suitable for LVT because,
following exposure to high temperatures, the flooring has wide open joints (in this case up to 0.7
mm); the use of adhesives specifically developed for LVT, such as ULTRABOND ECO TACK 4 LVT,
considerably reduces such movements caused by high temperatures.
