He first graduated with a diploma in political sciences at the
University of Warsaw. Subsequently, he studied direction at
the Film Academy Lodz and participated in the master’s school
programme for directors with Andrzej Wajda. Since 2000 he has
worked in direction on more than ten different film projects and
in particular on the production of TV series. OUR LAST SUMMER
is his full-length feature film debut.

screenplay writer, he is president of
the KIPA (Polish Producers Audiovisual
Works Chamber of Trade and Commerce) and the administrative council
of the ZAPA (Union of Audiovisual Authors and Producers). As
a producer he has made several hits for all the important Polish
broadcasters, including the currently successful Polish TV series
RANCZO, which has dominated the 8 pm Sunday slot (with more
than 40% market share) for four successive years.

Diplomierte zunächst im Bereich Politikwissenschaft an der Universität
Warschau. Danach studierte er Regie
an der Filmhochschule Lodz und nahm
an dem Masterschool Programm für
Regisseure von Andrzej Wajda teil. Seit
2000 hat er an mehr als zehn verschiedenen Filmprojekten und vorrangig an
TV-Serienproduktionen als Regisseur
gearbeitet. UNSER LETZTER SOMMER ist sein Langfilmdebüt.

René Frotscher
Nach seinem Abschluss an der Filmhochschule in Potsdam-Babelsberg
und der Vancouver Film School 2010
tätig als Produzent. Er war vor UNSER
LETZTER SOMMER unter anderen für
den im Jahre 2012 mit der Lola in Bronze ausgezeichneten Spielfilm KRIEGERIN verantwortlich. René Frotscher ist
Mitglied der Deutschen Filmakademie.

Summer 1943, somewhere in the Polish provinces: the air is mild and full
of life, and the war seems far away. But even here in the Polish hinterland,
the German army soldiers are getting younger all the time, and so Guido
arrives at the gates of Treblinka. He is forced to serve at a police constabulary post as a punishment for listening to “degenerate” music. As often
as he can, he tries to escape this brutal world and the scorn of his older
colleagues. One day he gets to know a Polish youth called Romek, who has
lost his father in the war and is now working as a stoker on a steam engine.
Guido and Romek are no heroes; in these troubled times all they want is to
live normal lives and enjoy their youth, music and the summer. When they
meet two girls, Franka and Bunia, it seems that happiness might exist,
even in this unreal world. But the idyll is deceptive. The advance of Soviet
partisans and the German occupying forces’ actions lead all four to a sudden realisation that the summer is over …
OUR LAST SUMMER, a German-Polish cinema film production, was made
close to the Polish city of Wroclaw, near Riesa in Saxony, and in Lübben,
Brandenburg between August and October 2013. It will be brought to German cinemas by farbfilm verleih in October 2015.
Since graduating from the Film Academy in Potsdam-Babelsberg and Vancouver Film School in 2010, he has been working
as a producer. Before OUR LAST SUMMER, among other things
he was responsible for the feature film KRIEGERIN, which received
a bronze Lola in 2012. René Frotscher is a member of the German
Film Academy.
Thomas Jeschner
Nach einem Germanistik- und Geschichtsstudium von 1993 bis
2005 tätig als selbständiger Kaufmann, seit 2005 als Autor und
Filmemacher. Neben verschiedenen Buchveröffentlichungen
zeichnet er als Producer bzw. Executive Producer für verschiedene Spiel- und Dokumentarfilme verantwortlich, wie z.B. ICH,
TOMEK oder der in Produktion befindliche Kinodokumentarfilm
COUNTRY FOR ONE MAN.
After studying German philology and history, he worked from
1993 to 2005 as an independent businessman, as from 2005 as an author
and filmmaker. As well as various book
publications, as producer or executive
producer he has been responsible
for various feature and documentary
films, e.g. ICH, TOMEK or the cinema
documentary COUNTRY FOR ONE MAN,
which is currently in production.

Sommer 1943, irgendwo in der polnischen Provinz: Die Luft ist warm und
voller Leben, der Krieg scheint weit weg. Doch auch hier, im polnischen
Hinterland werden die Soldaten der deutschen Armee immer jünger, so ist
auch Guido vor die Tore von Treblinka gekommen. Er muss für das Hören
von „entarteter“ Musik seinen Strafdienst auf einem Gendarmerieposten
ableisten. Dort versucht er so oft es geht, dieser Welt voller Brutalität und
der Verachtung seiner älteren Kollegen zu entfliehen. Er lernt eines Tages
den Polen Romek kennen, der seinen Vater im Krieg verloren hat und als
Heizer auf einer Dampflok arbeitet. Guido und Romek sind keine Helden,
sie wollen in diesen schwierigen Zeiten normal leben und ihre Jugend, die
Musik und den Sommer genießen. Als sie die beiden Mädchen Franka und
Bunia treffen, scheint auch in dieser unwirklichen Welt so etwas wie Glück
zu existieren. Doch die Idylle ist trügerisch. Das Vorrücken sowjetischer
Partisanen und das Vorgehen der deutschen Besatzer lassen alle vier auf
einen Schlag erkennen: Der Sommer ist vorbei…
Die deutsch-polnische Kinoproduktion UNSER LETZTER SOMMER entstand
zwischen August und Oktober 2013 in der Nähe der polnischen Stadt Breslau, bei Riesa in Sachsen sowie im brandenburgischen Lübben und wird im
Oktober 2015 vom farbfilm verleih in die deutschen Kinos gebracht.
