europea del IAML. La Academia reúne

países alrededor del mundo que
acceden a la misma a través de un
proceso de selección por lo que sus
conferencias no suelen estar abiertas
a cualquier profesional que no sea
miembro de la Academia. Este año sin
embargo se permitirá la asistencia de

economic and legal changes in recent years
and in certain areas provides some of the
most progressive examples of family law

decentralised country with 17 Autonomous
Communities. For that reason it can be
difficult to get to grips with the variety of
different regional laws. Spanish fellows from
different Autonomous Communities will be

10.15 – 11.00: Brussels IV Regulation –
Implications on Family Law
The “Succession Regulation” (“SR”) has
attempted to harmonise private international
law rules for succession throughout the EU
without significantly affecting the internal
succession laws of Member States. The new
regulation
will
have
far
reaching
consequences that will affect family law even
in those jurisdictions that have opted out. The
speakers will examine the implications and
possible solutions and planning strategies.

practical aspects of conflict of laws and

The need for tax planning in a variety of
family dispute situations. With the significant
costs associated with cross border litigation,

sights, activities and food, and which is
friendly, easy to explore on foot,
welcoming new and old visitors. To help

WEDNESDAY 25th MARCH
A short welcome walking tour through the
historic heart of the city: $20pp 15:00 to
16:00
Evening:
Welcome reception at Real Alcazar, a royal
palace, originally a Moorish fort, a short walk
from our main hotel Alfonso XIII. It is the
oldest royal palace still in use in Europe. The
palace is renowned as one of the most
beautiful in Spain. Included in the conference
fee, to include a private guided tour of the
palace, drinks and entertainment and
substantial tapas food which should avoid the
need for dinner later 19:00 to 23:00
Morning visit for spouses and partners to the
Flamenco Academy and your opportunity to
learn some of the key moves. Lunch follows in
a typical bar in the Triana Quarter. $89 11:00

Afternoon guided visit to the largest Gothic
cathedral in the world followed by refreshing
drinks and snacks on a terrace overlooking
the city. $65pp 15:15 to 17:45
Dinner at Abades, a high-end contemporary
riverside restaurant looking back over the
city and a 10min walk from our main hotel
Alfonso XIII. An evening of flamenco,
cocktails, canapes and music, followed by
dinner including wine. Not to be missed! $150

Afternoon option one is a tour to Cordoba
visiting the famous Mezquita (Mosque), saved
by the Christians for its spectacular beauty
(who could not help lobbing a Baroque
cathedral into the middle!). It was built in the
8-10th centuries with 856 columns of jasper,
onyx, marble and granite. We will also walk
around the city and visit the Jewish Quarter.
Lunch will be provided en route and a simple
dinner in Cordoba. The drive is approx.. 2hrs
each way but the journey gives you the
chance to experience a city that Romans,
Arabs, Jews and Christians left their mark on
with monumental buildings and work of art.

Enjoy the reception and entertainment with
all the Fellows and their guests then dine in a
separate, dedicated area of the restaurant for

Afternoon option two is a tour to Jerez with
a visit to Gonzalez Byas wine and sherry
cellar with tasting and tapas. Some free time
to explore Jerez is included. Dinner will be at
A Poniente, a 2 star Michelin restaurant and
one of the best in Spain. The journey time is
just under an hour and a light lunch is

historic part of the city. Seville is a shoppers’

Quarter of Barrio Santa Cruz, followed by a
guided visit to the palace of Casa Pilatos,
home of the Dukes of Medinaceli, named after

of the best examples of Mudejar architecture

El simposio estará dividido en cuatro
sesiones durante las cuales se analizarán
cuatro casos prácticos. Por la mañana el
primer caso práctico cubrirá todos los
aspectos relativos al procedimiento de
divorcio
incluyendo
conflictos
de
jurisdicción. El segundo caso práctico
afrontará la cuestión de los acuerdos pre
y post matrimoniales/capitulaciones
matrimoniales, pactos en previsión de la
disolución del matrimonio, regímenes
económicos matrimoniales y efectos
económicos del divorcio. Por la tarde de
nuevo a través de un caso práctico se
analizará la problemática legal de los
menores desde un punto de vista
internacional incluyendo el cambio de
residencia habitual del menor así como el
reconocimiento y ejecución de sentencias.
La última sesión contemplará un último
caso práctico en relación a las parejas de
hecho y derechos del colectivo LGTB.
