Chain Bag Dredge The chain bag dredge is a robust instrument for collecting samples of loose rock, nodules or cobbles from the seafloor. A ship has the dredge in tow and drags it across the seafloor, big rocks are collected in the chain bag whereas unconsolidated sediments are washed out. As an option 4 sediment tubes can be mounted to the corners of the dredge´s mouth.
