AUSKF 審査会についての提言
AUSKF 審査会は長い歴史的経緯から Board Meeting に合せて各地域持ち回りで開催されています。
先人、先輩諸兄のご苦労を考えれば只々敬服するのみです。こんにちでは AUSKF の大きな事業とし
て当たり前のこととして運営されていますが、審査会を Board Meeting に合せて開催する積極的意義
や意味がどこにあるのだろうかと市井の一剣士として考えてみました。段位取得だけが剣道の目的で
はないですが、修業する剣士には段位取得は大きな励みでもあります。AUSKF 主催の全米審査会は
受審者には高段者への難関審査です。各地からその為だけに貴重な時間と高い費用をかけて審査会に
参じます。一方で、審査する側の AUSKF 審査員の先生方は Board Meeting と掛け持ちで大変なご
苦労があると想像します。只、受審者からみると審査員は Board Members が Board Meeting に合せ
てついでに審査をしている、いつも同じ顔ぶれ、AUSKF 費用セーブの為の掛け持ち審査会との印象
は禁じ得ません。段位授与は AUSKF のもっとも責任のある大切な権威づけ事業です。それを行う審
査会ですので、ついでや掛け持ち云々の思いを受審者や周囲に与えることは高段者審査会の権威と信
頼を減じることに繋がるのではと危惧します。また、審査側・受審者フェアーという観点からも、審
査側の掛け持ち審査というのは見直す時期に来ているのではと思います。AUSKF 審査会は Board
Meeting から切り話して全く独自の event として開催すべしだと考えます。選ばれた審査員も受審者
同様に緊張感を持って臨むことになります。そのことが結果的には審査そのものへの信頼感と権威醸
成に繋がると信じます。
私の個人的な考えとしてこの思いを沢山の先生方には機会あるごとにお伝えしました。すべての先生
方からご賛同頂きました。実現するには AUSKF での議論と結論出しが必要です。その為には SCKF
の総意としてAUSKFに提言して頂き正式議題としてAUSKFでご議論頂くというのがベストだと考
えます。就いては、まず SCKF でこの案を検討して頂きたいとしてこの書状を認めました。
SCKF ではずっと独自 event として審査会を行っています。他の地域連盟も同じだと思います。
AUSKF だけが Board Meeting との掛け持ち審査会です。おかしなことだと思います。

Proposal for AUSKF promotional examination
In my understanding, historically AUSKF promotional examination has been held as the part
event of board meeting whenever and wherever each board meeting is held. I do respect and
appreciate our SENPAI to make it feasible. As one of KENSHI, I have deeply considered and
reviewed if the current system of promotional test as the part event of board meeting is surely
good for KENSHI as well as AUSKF. Although higher DAN ranking is not the final goal, DAN
promotion is helping a lot to each KENSHI for his/her improvement of Kendo. AUSKF
promotional examination is a kind of tough work for higher ranking. Each examinee is
challenging it with its valuable time and effort spending the considerable amount of money as
well. On the other hand, I have no doubt that it must be a very tough and hard work to examiners
selected in addition to Board Meeting at same time. Anyhow, without regard to AUSKF and
examiners work, I’m wondering if there might be some negative thinking at examinee and public.
It seems that the work as examiners are kind of part work after board meeting, examiners are
always same out of board members, AUSKF might be saving its expenses since its part event of
board meeting. DAN authorization is one of most responsible and important business of AUSKF.
So, it should be cautious and careful enough not to give any unfavorable perception of promotional
examination at each KENSHI and public. Furthermore, from the point of fairness to examiners
and examinees, the current promotional test as part event of AUSKF board meeting should be
reconsidered. It should be held independently and exclusively apart from any other event. This, I
believe, will help giving to the public the better understanding of fairness and valuable DAN
authority.
From time to time, I have kept expressing to many sensei my opinion and idea as above. All
sensei have agreed to my thought. In order to make it progressed and changed, AUSKF must
take a necessary step to discuss and decide it under its promotional committee and board meeting.
Now, I would like SCKF to first discuss this issue and decide if it should be proposed to AUSKF
for its promotion test to be held exclusively and independently. Then, please provide this idea as
SCKF official proposal to AUSKF. This is the reason why I wrote this letter to you.
SCKF has held its promotional test as independent and exclusive business apart from any other
events. At other regional federations, it must be same. Only AUSKF has done it as part event of
board meeting. This is something strange in my thought.
