At the „Institut für Strömungsmechanik“ Technischen Universität Braunschweig starting 01.05.2016 or later.

The offered position is for a
Scientific researcher (wissenschaftlichen Angestellten)
for a 4 years contract, and financed by the state of Lower Saxony. The salary is according to EG 13 TV-L.
The candidate will have two main activities: research on the subject of gust mitigation, and support duties at
the institute. The detailed tasks for the two main roles are the following:
1. Gust mitigation through closed-loop controlled flap:
a. Model design and construction from carbon fiber
b. Gust characterization in the wind tunnel using 5-hole probe
c. Flow response characterization under open-loop forcing and PIV measurements.
d. Closed loop control using: classical and genetic programming control
2. Support activities at the institute
a. Responsibilities for maintenance and upgrades of two experimental facilities
b. Responsibilities for the exercise sessions in the fundamental courses of “fluid mechanics”
Competencies sought




Completed Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering with good standings.
Good knowledge of aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, model construction techniques from composite
material, and mathematics.
Independent, sociable, enthusiastic, and willing to work in teams and to travel abroad.
Good spoken and written English.
